we found this restaurant based on tripadvisor's review for which we are very grateful. the restaurant is so hidden, that we wouldn't have found it otherwise. when we stepped in, we were greeted by the most friendly and funny waiter EVER, Manuel. We visited this restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday night and upon arrival saw the tables were about 20% occupied. As we descended the entrance stairs we was stopped in our tracks by one of the waiters and asking for a table for two, we was curtly told "the restaurant is full". There was no asking if we had a... Great food, great value and extremely welcoming and friendly staff. Very busy on a Saturday night and we were lucky to get a reservation by booking the day before for openon time (7:30). It was full to the rafters later on with people queuing for tables - always a good sign. The food was good quality traditional Italian and served... More

It was okay but being of Italian heritage , I have high standards when it comes to Italian food. They make a flaming pasta so when they did not do this in front of us I was let down, they sat us in the back of the restaurant .In North America we have perfected most foreign foods

The restaurant was already full when I arrived (9ish pm) and people were starting to queue outside. As I was alone, a friendly waitress asked me if I minded sharing a table with someone else. I happily accepted and had a lovely dinner. The place was a bit cramped and loud, but I didn't mind it.

Very good restaurant. We had an awesome experience with pasta and house wine. We can recommend this trattoria. We had a pasta with bacon and cream for 9.50 euros and a pasta with seafood for 9 euros. Both were excellent choices.

Absolutely stunning experience. We'd walked past this place a couple of times and it was always bouncing so we knew it must have been good. We tried on the Saturday but it was full so booked for the Monday (closed Sunday) and really weren't disappointed. Food was brilliant, they were ace with the kids, staff were attentive but not pushy... More

We were with a baby so staff was very friendly. They have a feeding chair. It can be a chalenge to go down with a stroller. Food is good. Always has a lot of customers so its better to come when they open (7 pm). Panacota is divine also tiramisu.

Very very very good food.. Take the focaccia with prosciutto and bruschetta with tomato.. The gnocchi with Gorgonzola is very good too! Made a reservation for tomorrow.. Wish I'd discovered this restaurant earlier this trip!

I visited this restaurant this January, 2016. it is kind of difficult to see the entrance as it is just a small door going downstairs. The pasta alla matricciana (sorry for my italian) is really tasty and is a good portion as first dish, after that we had some cow tail and beef loins (just for the fun of it),... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
