Best dinner we had in Rome during our five-day-stay. Traditional Roman dishes! Delicious pasta! A family-run restaurant, with the father in the kitchen and the two sons in the restaurant that was filled with locals. Very friendly service, we had a nice talk with one of the sons. You may have to search a while but it's worth that. Prices... More

We were given this restaurant from the front desk staff at our hotel. He stated "This is where I go to eat". This place was just plain great. It's down a side street and away from the hustle and bustle of Rome. It's a family run with the father in the kitchen, his sons working the front of the house... More

Perfect pasta. Perfectly al dente. Fantastic sauces. Great service. Old school Roman food at its best!

we were recommended this restaurant by a the manager of a nearby shop (who walked us down the road to make sure we found it). We were able to get a table outside and as it was a beautiful Roman day that was appreciated. the food was excellent and the wine of the house was lovely. the pricing of both... More

We happened to stumble into this restaurant as we were looking for a dinner option on our first night in Rome. What enticed us inside was that the place was quite simple, even ascetic in décor and the quests of the restaurant seemed to mostly consist of locals, not Italian tourists but actual Romans (yeah, how do you really tell... So we decided to book a number of our meals in Rome before we left Canada. Trattoria Lilli was the toughest of the bunch (we were in Rome for a week). I tried emailing them twice. No answer. BTW my emails were in Italian. The I tried FB messaging them from their FB page. Success - a reply was received... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a gentleman on the train who frequented it. We found it very popular and booked in advance. It was well priced and the food was great. We can only ever fit in one course, and this did not disappoint. Desert was delightful, but not sure if the chocolate cake was made on site?... More

this tucked away restaurant was jammed with locals and seemed to all know each other very well! they turned away people all night. had a pasta dish with bacon, served with bacon grease that was the best thing I ever tasted. It was a little dirty and the lights were too bright, but after a few glasses of wine you... More

We would have never known about this little trattoria were it not for a New York Times feature on Rome's best restaurants. Tucked away on a side street, below the main street and all of the hustle, Lilli's cuisine isn't just some of the best we encountered while touring Rome, it was also very affordable. I had the bucanelli, as... More

Pasta carbonara was the best I tried in Rome. We were the only "foreigners" having lunch on a Sunday. I'd return just for the jug of house wine!
