Great Dessert, Mediocre Food

Stopped in here after an exhausting day of touring. It had wine and was across from my apartment. The service was excellent in this family run establishment. The owner was very attentive. I ordered the carbonera that was just ok. Nothing special. However, the Tiramisu was the best in Rome! I... read more

Me and my wife visit this "restaurant" on January 2016 for dinner. We had the most outrageous experience ever. The service was really annoying and rude. The food in the other hand was not what we expected at all. My wife found hair on the plate and they also gave us bread without asking, and we got charged for that.... More

Stopped to eat just a pizza. The boss came to take our order and he convinced us to buy a "larger" one with just 3 more euros. (Pizza's price was 10euro). Pizza was just 'ok' but he charged us 4 euros for bread and plates. Bread to eat pizza. Just another tourist trap with a nice showcase outside.

My girlfriend and I stopped here to have our "Christmas" meal on Christmas Eve because the highly rated places we researched on line were closed, and since we expected few places to be open Christmas Day. We were very hesitant because it seemed a bit like a cheesy tourist trap. After having ordered wine, antipasti and a pasta dish, the... More

Nice old fashioned family run place. We both had a pizza, one Coke and one house white. The pizzas were nice but bland in comparison to those from home. Lovely bread supplied ( olive oil and rosemary). Wine was pretty bad ( but usual for a house wine in Europe) but a huge glass. But the owner and staff were... More

We discovered this place just off the Piazza Barberini before heading back to the airport. It is a typical family run restaurant, prepares all its own food, including pasta. We had spaghetti with pomodoro e basilico and a green salad. The tomato sauce was deliciously thick and was clearly homemade. Not badly priced I would recommend this as a good... More

Tasty food (including awesome home made raspberry tart), reasonably priced and lovely friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Last night in Rome this was the best meal by far great price everything clearly marked not a tourist trap a proper family run business , the owner invited us in and I wasn't disappointed there was also a nun sitting eating that says it all , not a flash place but beautiful people and food , we shared a... The best tiramisu in Rome. You need to try it to believe me. Family owned restaurant, ate there three times and all dishes were excellent.

Son of the owner was at the door and sold us on the authenticity unfortunately the food didn't measure up. Prawns that were given a big build up were tough in a lukewarm tomato based sauce. Main course was lukewarm - chips and roast potatoes had to be sent back - and chicken over-cooked and dry. Owner and son clearly... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
