we ordered two different pizzas, but both contained a cheese (kind of mozzarella, not true mozzarella) tasting very strange, as it was spoiled. we left half of the pizza...but tonight we both had heavy bellyache...was it casual? do not go!!

Once again Trip Advisor came through for us! Dar Buttero was a 4 minute walk from our apartment in Trastevere. Our first night in Rome after traveling from NYC we wanted to stay local. We are so glad we experienced this wonderful, "mom & pop" restaurant. The food was good (seafood risotto...the rice cooked perfectly). It is not a fancy... More

Hidden gem close to trasteve. They do not speak English but it just makes it more authentic! Carbonara is absolute winner!!!!! Delicious, great portion, real local style, they do the things they are the best at. My salad as a first was disappointing, leaves, 3 slices of tomatoes and a few carrots... Go for local dishes if you want to... More

Classic Trastevere's Restaurant (no tourist place); choose typical roman's dishes: Amatriciana, Carbonara, (1st dishes), and coda alla vaccinara (2nd) and let the boss of the house counseil you; you'll be in good hands. Very good hospitality to all nationalities (also, they're curious about you) and very friendly and "country" service. You can have both a romantic roman dinner or a... More

I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, including the three Michelin star restaurant The Lanesborough of Heinz Beck - but Dar Buttero has without a doubt the best food in the world. And most importantly: the most kind people. The food, atmosphere and service is the most authentic you will ever find in Rome. It... More

The rear patio was perfect for a late night meal in October. Great antipasti and giant crispy herbed crackers. Mix of locals and tourists and everyone got the treatment from the cameriere. Left full, slept well.

Very good food, great service, and nice, informal decor. This is an authentic Rome family-fun establishment. Mama was in the kitchen, and the rest of the family assuming other duties. We had a party of five and spent a delightful two hours having lunch. Fantastic bread from the bakery across the street and the house wine was very drinkable. They... More

If you want a wonderful meal in Trastevere, cross Viale Trastevere to the lesser-known side. You won't regret it. We stumbled across this place just before it was closing at the end of lunch service and asked if it was too late. "No trouble, come on in!" That was our friendly entrance to this quaintly decorated place and it simply... More

Got lucky, and while wandering the streets in Trastevere, we stopped here for lunch. At first we were a little skeptical because it was empty. But we ventured in because of the interesting decor, the good smells coming from the kitchen, and the owner inviting us in. Lucky us! We had pasta dishes with beverages and it was delicious-old school... More
