Hidden gem

We had dinner here last night and everything we had was delicious and had amazing flavors. I loved that the chef was a woman that looked to be middle aged, walking around looking like a cook with an apron, checking to make sure the kitchen was going smoothly and she was also checking on tables to... read more

Good food...I had a very tasty rabbit dish but unfortunately they seemed a bit under-staffed the night we were there and this meant the drinks took quite a while (very good Aperol Spritz when it did arrive). The service was friendly and hopefully the issues that night were just a one-off.

Wow the fakeness of this place is something that is hard to describe. It's in a neighbourhood with the best of the restaurants, but it is nowhere near the quality of any place that I have been in Rome. I love wine but didn't order any this time as I was having an early dinner. That made the waiter and... More

Great neighborhood (Trastavere). The portion sizes were huge but more importantly, the food was really delicious. I would do a pasta or a secundi but hard to do both, even when sharing. I ordered the pork - it was delicious but so much that I could only eat a little. The owner was lovely and gave us a house bottle... More

We came early and they were not open yet but back at 7:30. The food was decent, not the best we've had. The service was also good - not the greatest or friendliest. They got very busy & only had a couple people working so service got slow. The highlight of the meal was the amazing desserts. We had panna... More

We ate at this restaurant twice, which is not something I would normally do when away, so that is commendation in itself. The restaurant is rustic style on a cobbled side street, much quieter than the busy tourist-packed streets nearby. The tables are tightly packed and a bit wobbly but that's the traditional style which I quite like. The first... More

The portions here are HUGE. Apps are certainly shareable. I will say one thing though - this place knows they are a great restaurant and the owner either was overwhelmed or it was just her personality not to be gracious. I witnessed her telling a couple waiting for a table when they inquired very nicely that they thought they were... More

In one of the loveliest tiny streets of Trastevere in Roma, this Hostaria is a gem. All the tables outside were occupied and we were seated inside, for a few minutes. Back outside we enjoyed a superb meal of stuffed zucchini flowers and a generous serving of lamb chops cooked to perfection.

We visited this restaurant in June this year. Rome is a crazy place in June so to find this little gem was fantastic. This place is off the beaten track so is quiet and very relaxing. The restaurant was very busy. I would recommend making a reservation. The service was average but the food was really good and great value... More

We had an absolutely delicious meal here - lovely outdoor setting, good staff, heavenly food. The spaghetti cacio e pepe was a huge hit! Great for kids too. Good value for the money!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
