The street view was enjoyable, the meals served are not so special. Service was great, clean restaurant on a quiet street, but a little bit overrated.

I was wary of revisiting this restaurant for fear of tainting the wonderful memories of my last visit. I needn't have worried, nothing had changed but the tablecloths. The food was indeed wonderful once more as was the atmosphere. The fact that the tables are so close together makes it more friendly and it is better value for money than... More

Ate here...nice ambiance. Food was tasty, but so out of balance size wise. Who eats a starter that can feed four, followed by a main that can feed another four. It was crazy portions. Service for the restaurant was very slow and haphazard....

when you are walking in a very touristic place in roma it is quite difficult to find a restaurant which is not a pizzeria or another "fast italian food", but just one street away of the crowd flow, we found it. calm, under the shade., staff so pleasant and are trying to make you very comfortable without hurry you. Excellent... More

Very pleasant. Very good italian cuisine : the mozarella + cherry tomatoes was excellent, the black truffle pasta (du jour) also. My friend took bacon/parmigiano pasta : they were too fat and a bit uncooked but overall good. The service was a bit messy : the hostess was very friendly with some customers (they had free dessert) but ended to... More

We were staying on a small side street in Trastevere, and this restaurant was directly across from our flat--we popped in the first time only because it was raining and we didn't want to go far. It does not look like much from the outside, but appearances are deceiving. This ended up being one of our best dinners in Rome,... More

We were searching for a restaurant among the myriad offerings in Trastevere. We had already chosen an option, close to our apartment, but throught that we would keep looking. We stumbled across La Botticella in a quiet back street somewhat away from the main hum of the Trastevere. The number of italians eating there already made us curious since our... More

Food is excellent, imaginative, and the portions are generous. Fish , pastas and meat are terrific. Had the mango tiramasu the first time and now am enjoying the strawberry tiramasu (you need to share it with at least 4 people as the serving is large). This place is quiet, pretty, and the service is excellent. house wine is good.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
