Lovely experience

We ate at this restaurant twice, which is not something I would normally do when away, so that is commendation in itself. The restaurant is rustic style on a cobbled side street, much quieter than the busy tourist-packed streets nearby. The tables are tightly packed and a bit wobbly but that's the... read more

We came early and they were not open yet but back at 7:30. The food was decent, not the best we've had. The service was also good - not the greatest or friendliest. They got very busy & only had a couple people working so service got slow. The highlight of the meal was the amazing desserts. We had panna... More

The portions here are HUGE. Apps are certainly shareable. I will say one thing though - this place knows they are a great restaurant and the owner either was overwhelmed or it was just her personality not to be gracious. I witnessed her telling a couple waiting for a table when they inquired very nicely that they thought they were... More

In one of the loveliest tiny streets of Trastevere in Roma, this Hostaria is a gem. All the tables outside were occupied and we were seated inside, for a few minutes. Back outside we enjoyed a superb meal of stuffed zucchini flowers and a generous serving of lamb chops cooked to perfection.

We visited this restaurant in June this year. Rome is a crazy place in June so to find this little gem was fantastic. This place is off the beaten track so is quiet and very relaxing. The restaurant was very busy. I would recommend making a reservation. The service was average but the food was really good and great value... More

We had an absolutely delicious meal here - lovely outdoor setting, good staff, heavenly food. The spaghetti cacio e pepe was a huge hit! Great for kids too. Good value for the money!

Visited this restaurant after looking up the reviews on Trip Advisor. Extremely disappointed. We ordered our meals only to be told they were not available. After picking something else the food came out. The starters were cold (when they should have been hot!) then when the main meals came out they were absolutely freezing cold - i advised the waiter... My friend and I had booked for 9 o'clock however weren't seated until around 9:30 and were left waiting in the streets until this time. There were only 2 staff working and the restaurant was full, I felt sorry for them as they were rushed off their feet. However they were very apologetic and the chef even came out to... More

I had a homemade truffle ravioli that the waitress recommended. The flavors didn't mesh well together and the whole thing was overwhelmed by the cheese. It was nice, but I wish I had ordered something simpler. My mother had the carbonara and it was excellent. I definitely had food envy! The staff was attentive and helpful. It's small and pretty,... The outdoor seating is great, the interior decor is not so nice and is too brightly lit. But the delicious Italian home cooking is the main attraction here. Service a bit slow but friendly. Would return for sure.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
