Best Meal in Italy!

We had an absolutely delicious meal here - lovely outdoor setting, good staff, heavenly food. The spaghetti cacio e pepe was a huge hit! Great for kids too. Good value for the money!

Visited this restaurant after looking up the reviews on Trip Advisor. Extremely disappointed. We ordered our meals only to be told they were not available. After picking something else the food came out. The starters were cold (when they should have been hot!) then when the main meals came out they were absolutely freezing cold - i advised the waiter... My friend and I had booked for 9 o'clock however weren't seated until around 9:30 and were left waiting in the streets until this time. There were only 2 staff working and the restaurant was full, I felt sorry for them as they were rushed off their feet. However they were very apologetic and the chef even came out to... More

I had a homemade truffle ravioli that the waitress recommended. The flavors didn't mesh well together and the whole thing was overwhelmed by the cheese. It was nice, but I wish I had ordered something simpler. My mother had the carbonara and it was excellent. I definitely had food envy! The staff was attentive and helpful. It's small and pretty,... The outdoor seating is great, the interior decor is not so nice and is too brightly lit. But the delicious Italian home cooking is the main attraction here. Service a bit slow but friendly. Would return for sure.

We had an amazing meal at Hostaria la Botticella. We booked a table which was lucky as many people were left to wait for 30 mins or so. Our meal was tatsy and the portions were very generous (you will need to be really hungry to eat all of it). I had the pasta with mussels and clams amd my... More

We had a four course meal here in this popular restaurant where the food was really tasty, but the portions are more than generous so it is a good idea to share everything. We received complimentary Limoncello and a bottle of wine (because we were asked to change table) which was very nice. The house starters (grilled vegetables) and pasta... More

If you have 1 dinner in Rome & want an authentic, tasty Roman meal, make your reservation well ahead of time & plan to dine for 2+ hours. We loved dining outside; house wine was wonderful & our 3 courses were stellar. Must-have appetizer: Roman artichokes. Julia, the owner & waitperson was incredibly warm & welcoming. It's in the Trastevere... More

It was past 9pm on our first night in Rome and we were tired and thankful to get a table on the edge of the seating outside La Botticella. One noticed that several diners were already leaving which showed that the clients were principally tourists and indeed I could not hear an Italian voice on any table around us. The... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
