Good fresh food

Good service and fresh food. (And we are really picky eaters) Quite expensive if you want to, but than again you've got something nice. Although we we spent less than a 100€ for one pasta ( split in two plates, without knowing until the bill came) and a gurnard fish ( almost 1 kilo) cooked in a... read more

Of our dozen plus dining experiences in Rome, Corte del Grillo was by far the most unpleasant. We stopped there for lunch several hours after landing in Fiumicino, and it wasn't a planned stop. Our first choice L'asino d'oro was closed for lunch, and after a long walk in Monti, Corte del Grillo was the only open place we could... More

The lobster was fabulous but the service abominable. The atmosphere was quite kitsch with an inoffensive cabaret act - all a bit forced. We ended up with a 400 euro bill as a result of poor choices, be careful! If you're looking for a michelin style bill - go somewhere else!

On the very last day of a two-week stay in Rome, I treated myself to lunch at this Osteria. I had noticed it earlier when walking to a nearby museum, the front window filled with a beautiful display of fish and shellfish on a bed of chipped ice. They looked like they'd been caught 10 minutes ago! Lovely selection of... More

We loved the food, which was the best fish we have tried in a very long time, the dessert was also very nice and good service...the trick is not to order the dishes of the day or get the price before ordering them...otherwise you might find yourself in a position where youll have to pay much more than you expected...this... We were recommended to dine here by our hotel manager, who said it was probably the best fish restaurant in Rome. On arriving, albeit on a Monday night, we were a bit surprised to see we were the only diners bar one. However, we were welcomed to our table and after perusing the menu for a bit asked if we... It is surprising how dining experiences vary vastly from one patron to the next. We give this restaurant a 10. This was the first day of our vacation and the dining experience was our first consideration, not price. We paid about 150 euros. Our waiter was attentive and helped us graciously select our dinner. There was zero attempt to upsell... More

Lesson number 1. When the concierge at your hotel recommends a place look up the reviews at Trip Advisor first. This is a perfect example. To be fair the food was good. Not fantastic but good. The price is expensive even for Rome tourist price. Wine is only available by the bottle no open bottles. The WORST part was the... More
