No finery, good food

Let's start from the ''cons'': level of English just a bit over ''Itanglish'', however with the eng (and other languages) menu it's not a big deal. 1€ each for the bread, and it wouldn't be a problem if at least the bread would be good. However as Italian I know that this euro is basically the... read more

Thanks to reviews on here my wife and I spent a couple of nights at this Restaurant. Our meals were very good value for money, especially the €6 for a litre of house wine. Would recommend if you are in the area. As it's away from the main streets you don't get hassled into going in either.

A few steps down from the street you will find a traditional italian restaurant. Service was very good until it was time to pay. Then we had to wait a little bit longer. However it was very busy and a lot og guests. I had Vitello Tonnato. It was good, but I had preferred some anchovy and capre as decoration... More

Came to Rome for three days, we were staying around the corner and were recommended to this restaurant by the hotel. Pleasantly surprised by the food and service. The exterior does not do it justice and found it very reasonable.

From the street it looks like nothing but inside you are welcomed with a genuine smile and treated to hospitality that I did not expect to find. The food was simple but extremely good quality. The House wine was even better than expected and at 6 euros for a litre was well worth it! The meal for 4 including steak,... More

Food = delicious and very reasonably priced Service = friendly, personal and not pushy The four of us visited the restaurant and we're all very impressed with our experience. Between the 4 of us we had the steak, venison scallops, grilled salmon and grilled swordfish which were all cooked to perfection, and we ordered 3 sides of veg to share... More

Location = good area (1/4 miles from Termini station). Parking = not so easy. Staff = very friendly, smiling and polite. Menu = very good. Typical food you may eat in Rome. Pasta = well cooked even if "Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe" could be better (BUT I am a DISCERNING GUEST...). Wine list = good. Cleanliness = good. Price =... More

Based on the reviews on here and the fact it was near our hotel we wanted to visit this restaurant and so glad we had! We arrived at 8pm without a reservation and waited 10 minutes for a table which wasn't a problem. The place was packed with locals and tourists alike so a good sign. We ordered the mixed... More

My friend and I ate in the restaurant 18 months ago and I was back in Rome last week with my partner, I suggested going to Trattoria Antica Boheme and when we looked at the menu outside there was nothing that he fancied. We went inside and asked was it possible for him to have an omelette and they were... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
