Italian character, italian food, italian personalities

The facade of the restaurant is not very inviting but the inside or rather downstairs below street level has plenty of italian character. The walls display photos of personalities that ate at the restaurant, albeit they do not appear to show recent visits. Menu is interesting and so is the wine... read more

this restaurant reminded me so much of my years living in new york. All the food was of very high quality but the real draw is the decor and service. The walls are strewn with various italian glitteratti who have dined in the place following a show in the nearby opera house. The food is pure italian - we had... More

Taking the recommendation from trip advisor we visited Trattoria Antica Boheme in Via Napoli. At first we thought we were in the wrong place since we looked in and there was only one table, but then, all 6 of us were escorted downstairs to a great looking Ristorante. The staff was very attentive and made an effort to explain the... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. We would never have found it our own--it is hardly visible on the street. We were glad to learn of this place--quiet but friendly atmosphere, good and quick service by a friendly waiter who did not press us to order more dishes than the light meal wanted. Good, authentic Italian food... More

Went for a meal with family. Decor and staff ok, menu and quality of food average. A bit of language problem when my wife asked for a mixed salad with no tomato she got a lot of tomatoes!!! Overall, as in the title: Average.

We stayed in Rome for two nights and ate here both times. It's a great little place with a friendly atmosphere and excellent food. We had a great time.

We found this little gem of a restaurant near our hotel via TripAdvisor. Fantastic food, great service and no hassle from a cute hole in the wall where the locals eat. We'd highly recommend to anyone visiting this area of Rome!

WOW, great food, great service, great atmosphere. They will take great care of you. A family owned and feels like it. It's off the beaten track but well worth it. Go stop by, sit and enjoy.

What can you say about a place that is beloved by staff, visitors, and the owner himself? What can you say about a place that welcomes you at the door with a glass of wine, and assorted appetizers for free? "It's called 'hospitality'", the staff said and it was amazing. Of course we also ate at the restaurant and it... More

Good food, fair price, Quick service. Difficult to find, with a narrow entrance, but worth the visit. If you don't want to spend too much this ia a good choice.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
