Good meal

We went there on our last night in Rome as is was just a minute walk from where we were staying and had passed in front of the restaurant several times. Since we didnt have a reservation we were seated on a table right upfront that wasnt the best place because it was kind of a passage (but then... read more

no fuss a room with grey tables and chairs but surprisingly for the tourists all tables are taken a quarter after they open. book in advance. the food is absolutely sublime cooked fried and grilled the way it should be done. all very very tasty and cheap. service is discrete and friendly and if you want to taste Italien wine... After a trip to the roman colosseum we decided to eat something and relax a little, seeing the really good reviews we decided to visit Il Bocconcino and eat. We entered the restaurant and hoped someone would tell us if they have any free tables, we had to search for one by ourselves, once we had found a table we... More

close to our hotel and more authentic than any restaurant we've tried in Rome. I knew from the mines I tried the breadbasket we were probably safe because it was finally good bread. A great variety of foods. The menu is all in Italian which may make you shy of going but the waiters did an excellent job of translating... More

Visited this restaurant on our last night in Rome and had great expectations based on the previous reviews but we were very disappionted. The food was very average and the waiting staff are not at all friendly or nice - got the distinct impression that they don't like tourists. I had fish for mains which I must say was very... More

After a glass of wine in one the street bars in front of the Colosseum, I was feeling a bit hungry so decided to explore the area behind. Most were very ordinary Pizza places, but Il Bocconcino caught my eye. The decor is different, cosy and yet clean, not fusty. However the first waiter pulled a face when I asked... More

Although very close to the Colosseum, Il Bocconcino is far from touristy. Easily the best food I've had in Rome these last few days and in a warm and homely environment. Friendly, expedient service. Will be happy to return.

We return to this trattoria 7 years after we first went there with my wife.Still delicious food, good service but the bill was 50 percent more expensive than it should be.They told me that the boss changed 5 years ago.Perhaps the new boss has bigger expenses.

Trip Advisor lead us to this gem, and I hope to do the same for others! This small neighborhood place served one of the best meals we had in Italy. We were there early, but it filled up with lots of locals later on.....always a good sign! We had a pistachio & herb encrusted Rombo (white fish) that was truly... More

We keep finding lovely, authentic trattorias and thinking 'surely we can't beat this' But then we do, our dinner here was not only a fantastic meal but an amazing experience in itself. Set far enough down a few side streets to be very fairly priced and not too busy, this rustic little trattoria was a fantastic choice. The menu was... More
