After visiting the Colosseum we flipped on the TripAdvisor app searching for a good Italian lunch. Sunday afternoon. We were guided by the map to this hidden gem and found a feast for our appetite. I had the daily special Spezzatino di manzo con patate e piselli accompanied by pomodori canditi. Luperco red is an excellent match for wine. Merlot,... More

All Italian menu eagerly explained by the attentive staff. Cheap good house wine by the carafe. Hearty Roman food in a rustic setting. Went for lunch after a morning in the colosseum and forum. Short walk back to the Metro. Go!

Il Bocconcino is a very good place where to taste typical Roman cuisine for quite reasonable prices. I definitely recommend you to try their pasta (regardless type) which is very delicious as well as local specialties such as Trippa alla Romana or Saltimbocca. Menu is just in Italian but waiter is ready to explain you everything you need to know... More

We were send by our hotel to this restaurant for our first dinner. We were not really happy. The portions were to big and not very tasty and almost cold. We prefer smaller and warmer portions with more taste. The fact that the menus were only in Italian is maybe the reason that we did not make our best choice.... More

Located within a few minutes walk of the Colosseum. Traditional style restaurant with selective menu rather than the 1001 options you can often find. Attentive and welcoming staff who will help you and explain what is on the menu which is only in Italian ( and why not ). Lovely fresh pasta and nice selection of fish dishes too. Perfectly... More

We stopped here for dinner on the recommendation of Rick Steeves. This was one of his recommendations that did not let us down. We were able to sit on the terrace. The service was attentive, they allowed us to struggle with out Italian the pasta was great.

Great service, food good, but not amazing. Would try again as staying close by. Waiter very friendly, but got food order wrong which meant too much entree, so all a bit carb loaded.

Good traditional cuisine. Staff were a bit rude, and forgot to bring us one of the plates we had ordered. Would still go back though, as quality of the food and the prices were good.

We followed the description of the lonely planet book and found this little restaurant near the colosseum. I was hopeful for "imaginative" fish dishes as promised. I ordered seabass but it tasted awfully fishy and not at all fresh. In addition, we were told there was no English menu, which is fine, but the waiter insisted he can explain everything.... More

We tried this place after day of biking in Rome. We found it on Trip Advisor and it looked good. Nice outdoor dining area, protected from the street. My wife and I shared a nice green salad and then she had a rib eye steak while I tried the gnocchi with Ragu sauce. Both were delicious. The staff was friendly... More
