Ok food, but very nice service

We had lunch here. The food was average, but the servant we had was very nice and serviceminded. He made the foodexperience nice.

Despite all the negative reviews our experience was very positive, so much so that we came again the next night. We had the Veal Scaloppini, Veal Saltimbocca, Spinach Ravioli and Lamb Chops, all were excellent. Our waiter was personable, halting English, and attentive. I thought the prices were reasonable, 52 Euros ($65) with Wine, Water and Coperto (cover charge). Actually,... More

Busy covered street cafe, but well managed and although busy while we were there no-one had to wait long for a table. Food was perfectly ok, not too expensive, waiters cheerful and efficient, would certainly go again

Made the mistake of stopping by Cafe Strega for an evening meal. As in most Rome venues that have outdoor seating and display a menu, once you stop to look you will be pestered to come dine. Avoid this place. We placed our order. A couple who sat two tables away and arrived about 10 minutes after us were then... More

The waiter was excellent at bringing the people into the restaurant but once you were in the restaurant we were not given any attention. We had to wait for our order to be taken while the waiter answered a phone call and twice he left our table while we were ordering to talk to people walking by on the street.... More

We wanted our visit to Rome to end with a nice meal on the famous via Veneto. Wasn't to be! We were snatched off the street by a bumbling waiter, our fault totally but willing to give it a try. What a mess. Firstly we were given the wrong meal, twice with the waiter saying it must be ours. Then... More

We have been in italy for three weeks and on the whole it has been amazing. Unfortunately we encountered the worst dining experience not only in italy but we have ever experienced anywhere. we ordered two beef fillets with pepper sauce which we were told will arrive on the side and instead received sliced sirloin steak with balsamic sauce !... I've had better meals at other locations but what made Strega nice was Nino` Great personality and very pleasant demeanor that made up for the lackluster meal. Ate there 3 times and nothing ever blew my socks off but at least when Nino was working we enjoyed his company and banter. A bit over priced for what you get.

First they had no running water in the toilet or sink. I had to get the soap off my hands with towel. The veal saltimboca was average but i had 1 small piece and the garnish was romaine lettuce. My wife had swordfish and it seemed frozen then cooked. The garnish was romaine and black olives out of a can.... More

My wife thought this restaurant was perfect for meeting our simple expectations. It is only a block from the Marriott. We wanted a quick, but tasty, meal before walking around the local attractions. My carbonara pasta was prepared perfectly and my wife's pizza was good. We also got 3 espressos - all for under 40 EUR. Our server was very... More

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
