This was our first gelato of many during our 10 day tour of northern Italy. My husband got pistachio at each location (Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, and Venice), and he said none compared to Gelato del Teatro. This place is a little bit tucked away but is well worth finding because the gelato is delicious. They had about 5 types of chocolate icecream including one that was 80% chocolate (which was really, really good), and a number of other interesting flavour combinations (such as raspberry and sage). more

I have visited several of the gelateria's that are written up here on TripAdvisor and to me...this one was the best. The gelato just seemed to be the creamiest....thought it was better than San Crispino more

We went to all the highly recommended gelaterias, and Gelateria del Teatro won hands down. The gelato was delicious, and as an extra bonus the owners were very nice and showed and explained how they make the ice cream - in this case a mango sorbet made from ripe Pakistani mangoes. The surroundings are very nice as well. more

My wife and I have lived in Rome for the past 9 months and Gelateria del Teatro is still our favorite. They only use natural, seasonal ingredients and make everything on site. Recommended flavors include tartufo (chocolate truffle) and torta di limone (lemon cake). We go here at least twice a week. And it's so delicious that we occasionally buy... more

Just got back from The Eternal City and had a wonderful time exploring the sights and visiting as many gelaterias as possible. There is a lot of excellent gelato to be had in Rome, but by far the best of the best is Gelateria del Teatro. Their pure chocolate, almond, and thyme-raspberry gelatos and their passionfruit sorbetto were so excellent.... more
