OK, so it's expensive for what it is, but you can't beat the ambience of Piazza Navona. We stopped here for wine once and came back for dinner on our last night in Rome. The canneloni was very good, as was the tartuffo, though maybe it's a little overrated. The waitstaff was attentive and fun to watch. In any case,... more

I had eaten here while in college in the 1970s - and the Tartufo dessert was memorable. Flash forward: our extended family of 8 needed a late lunch after a lot of sight-seeing. The Piazza Navona remains one of those special places where watching the crowd can always be fun, and dining outside is a treat. Tre Scalini delivered for... more

we went to sit in tre scalini for some gelato, touristy, yeah, i could see that before i sat down, however, the prices on the menu were unbelievable. To be honest, we didnt eat there, we looked at the menu and that was enough to put us off. The gelato's started at €12 each! As that was all we were... more

This is one of those cafes that are lining the Piazza Navona with the waiters who try to draw you into sit and have lunch, snacks or dinner. They are actually known for their chocolate decadent dessert. We just wanted to enjoy the piazza and share a bottle of Frascati. We had a little bruschetta with our wine. Nothing special.... more

We stopped for a late, hot-afternoon snack at Tre Scalini. Following the advice of others, we chose to step up to the take-out window to avoid the table cover charge. We sat, instead, on the plentiful benches in the Piazza. Tre Scalini is everything it was cracked up to be. The tartufo was to die for - rich chocolate gelato... more

Our tour guide had railed against going to Tre Scalini but I had heard decent things and the view of the action on Piazza Navona is worth something. Overall the food was good and the service was attentive. Value for the price was okay except for their famous tartufo--which, at 10 Euros for a fancy small scoop of ice cream,... more

We walked around the colosseum and there were a ton of touristy restaurants and we bypassed all of them. We saw a hotel, the Gladiator, and walked in and asked the concierge guy if he was to take his special girl, where would he take her, he recommended Tre Scalini. We were there in the low season and there was... more

I only had the gelato, which was very nice. I'd recommend here over the couple other gelaterias in the piazza. more

The only bad experience we had was the restaurant Tre Scalini in Piazza Navona, to the right of the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone. It had a nice view of the Fountain of Four Rivers, but the gnocchi in roquefort was much too salty, the saltimbocca veal was tough, dry and salty, the service was poor (they never brought the... more
