Authentic Roman cuisine...

Across from the Opera in Rome we found this very traditional Italian/Roman place. Strolling around we were a bit sceptic at first, but as we spotted a lot of happy locals entering the place, we decided to give it a try. The waiters are old-school charming Italians and for sure many years with La... read more

Very good restaurant. Served huge portions of Italian specialities, with excellent service in nice surroundings. If there was anything to complain about, it was that the portions were just too large.

I have been there with some Italian friends because it was close to the train station, very good service and food, they have a buffet for starters with a mozzarella that you should not miss, surprised even my Italian friends. Looks expensive but prices are actually ok, 25 euros per person.

Two other couples joined us for dinner in this wonderful restaurant. So many things on the menu looked good that we decided to order several dishes and eat "family style". The waiter was very helpful in clarifying any questions we had about the orders. By far my favorite dish was the Bucatini. I need to find that type of pasta... More

We had Spaghetti Vongole and Linguine Con Pescatore. At least half of the clams and mussels were empty. The seafood pasta had one shrimp. The dishes were tasteless. Very disappointing. Find another restaurant don't waste your time or money.

Delicious food, good prices!! Next door to our hotel "AL 38 VIMINALE HILL HOTEL". The service was very good and fast, although it was filled of locals and tourists.

Staff was very friendly, but food was not something to vote for 4 stars. I had scalopenes with sage with the roman way and it wasn't something to die for. I would say 3,5. My friend had la matriciana which was too salty and spaghetti was too al dente. Mixed salad was ok. I would also say it was a... More

The scallopine vitello limone was divine, as were accompaniments including the most tender artichoke. Good choice of wines and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was most efficient and friendly. The restaurant offered good value for money. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place and lovely design. The food was good but I expected more. The Amatriciana, (signature dish) was good but I had a better version elsewhere. The prosciutto was delicious and spinach as well. Good restaurant but you can probably do better.

Me and my husband ate dinner here at about 8pm on a Friday evening and there were a few tables available without booking. The food was fantastic, easily the best we had during our stay in Rome. The service was also great, very attentive without being overbearing. I would definitely recomend eating here.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
