I treated myself one night to dinner here, and then Swan Lake Ballet at the opera across the street. The food was very good, pretty upscale restaurant, with great service. No complaints.

This is an old-style Roman restaurant. Do not expect anything fancy but it is truly authentic. Nice location, particularly the terrace in summer time (in front of the Opera Theater). Good selection of wine and pretty much everything in the menu is excellent and authentic. The Bucatini alla Matriciana, however, are absolutely outstanding: the best I have ever had in... More

This is probably our favorite restaurant in Rome. We've been there in 3 different years, starting long ago. It never disappoints, so we dined there twice this summer.. The food is very good, freshly prepared, and served by polite and friendly waiters. This is a white-tablecloth restaurant, but not formidably formal, just dignified in a cheerful way. It's opposite the... More

Made reservations here for our last night celebration of our stay in Rome. We were not disappointed. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent as was the wine!

We had an excellent meal here. It was not cheap but our choices of a number of courses including steak was the reason for this. We had the zucchini and mozzarella starter which was nice followed by a well cooked and presented pasta and then my husband had steak. This was cooked exactly as we asked and how he likes... More

Stopped in for dinner right when they opened at 7 PM. Very nice decor and professional wait staff. No dress code that I could see (people dining in shorts and tshirts). Had the mozarella and hand-sliced cured ham as a starter (you can view the ham sitting near the restaurant) and a rigatoni with bacon first meal. Both presented beautifully... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our B&B, Armonia all'Opera, which is right next door. We loved La Matriciana. The food was excellent and we went back twice. I do think one does better eating inside, however, as the outside tables are rather cramped and the location is not very scenic. I am surprised to read the criticisms on... More

Read an earlier post about the indifferent waiters and soon found myself agreeing with it!!! If you sit by the street you can expect around 10 street vendors waiving roses or various other unappealing things at you. I ordered ravioli and a side of hand cut french fries. The ravioli arrived, the French fries didn't, so we chased the waiter... More
