Superb cuisine and fantastic service nothing was too much for the staff. One of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. If you want the steaks well done please ask otherwise it will be medium rare with red juices

We enjoyed the atmosphere, the friendly service and the good food (and its being next door to our hotel) so much we ended up going there 3 times. I especially recommend the carciofo giudia (crispy fried artichoke) for starter. Their fish is good too, the pasta is still very much al dente, (but then we found that most restaurants in... More

This was our best meal in rome. Fantastic restaurant with friendly service. The panna cotta was gorgeous. When returning to rome we will be returning here, highly recommend it.

Our host recommended La Matriciana, so we went there. Out of six dishes, only the tripes where good. Both pasta dishes were definitively too salty, one of them not cooked enough (we like the pasta "al dente"). The eggplant gratin was abysmal. The eggplant slices had been deep fried to allow them to soak all the frying oil before being... More

Visited with my husband while on our honeymoon. This classy restaurant was only round the corner from our hotel and we chose to visit after seeing other reviews on trip advisor. Food was wonderful, service was great. Friendly and busy. Not a seat left in the place 90mins after opening.

I was twice at this restaurant The food is delicious! The price is excellent for the quality of the products they offer! It's better to make a reservations or try to arrive early. It's packed with locals after 8:00 pm

Lovely 1930's decor and fascinating kitchenalia. Proper tablecloths and napkins, excellent service, lovely food, good house wine, a little more upmarket being right opposite the opera house. Pannacotta and parma ham to die for. Possibly slightly overlit but all in keeping with the era. Would suggest reserving a table. Supper for 5 was €200 but that was 3 courses each... More

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
