Good food and lovely ambience - taste of old Rome.

We were very lucky to be staying on the same street and even luckier to walk in and get a table without a reservation in this lovely old restaurant. From the moment I walked in I loved the feel. The scallopine vitello limone was divine, as were accompaniments including the most tender artichoke. Good choice of wines and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was most efficient and friendly. The restaurant offered good value for money. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place and lovely design. The food was good but I expected more. The Amatriciana, (signature dish) was good but I had a better version elsewhere. The prosciutto was delicious and spinach as well. Good restaurant but you can probably do better.

Me and my husband ate dinner here at about 8pm on a Friday evening and there were a few tables available without booking. The food was fantastic, easily the best we had during our stay in Rome. The service was also great, very attentive without being overbearing. I would definitely recomend eating here.

Great service. Waiter had a great sense of humour. Reasonably priced. Conveniently located within a minute from our hotel. Very popular already but still able to provide a table for 12.

Visited this restaurant again during our three day rugby break. We had taken the precaution of booking online beforehand which turned out to be a good move as the place was full when we arrived. The service was, as usual, very good although they did forget my roast potatoes and wilted spinach which were ordered to accompany my main course... More

Superb cuisine and fantastic service nothing was too much for the staff. One of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. If you want the steaks well done please ask otherwise it will be medium rare with red juices

We enjoyed the atmosphere, the friendly service and the good food (and its being next door to our hotel) so much we ended up going there 3 times. I especially recommend the carciofo giudia (crispy fried artichoke) for starter. Their fish is good too, the pasta is still very much al dente, (but then we found that most restaurants in... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
