We dine at Osteria da Mario every time we visit Rome. My husband cannot visit the Eternal City without enjoying a plate of the fantastic Carbonara. We dined outside on the piazza with a group of 9 on a Thursday night without reservations. We started with Prosciutto and fresh mozzarella, Caprese salad, bruschetta pomodoro and mussels. The mussels were the... More

Only here you can eat the real "Carbonara" in a typical squire and at a price right for the standards of city center. The specialty is "Carbonara" but all the dishes are excellent. The speed of the service is in the standard. You will come out satisfied and will come back again.

We ate outside and had no trouble getting our party of 7 served however we did eat early by Rome standards. We got there about 7:00pm on a Tuesday night. The food was the outstanding and the Bruschetta was particularly good. The service as also prompt and we enjoyed the strolling accordion player that serenaded us for a short period.

Bad experience on this restaurant. The food was not fresh...especially the clams in the seafood that has an horrible odor probably due to the freshness...

We did not eat in the outside portion of the restaurant so I cannot attest to anything there. We had great service. The chef came out to greet us and answer questions about the menu. Their family even came in to dine at the same time. (Which is always a good sign) We had the house wine which was nice.... More

This is one of the better restaurants I have had the pleasure to enjoy in Rome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

After my first visit 3 years ago, I questioned my memory after reading several not so good reviews. Our recent visit was again excellent! My amatriciana was my best pasta during a week in Rome and coniglio was tender and long simmered. My partner had a really delicious arrabiata and a starter of fritto misto was also well done and... We chose this place based on a Rick Steves recommendation. It took some searching and asking around to find it (this was our very first time in Rome, after all). We started with their bruschetta which made all the searching worthwhile in and of itself. We both had pasta dishes -- my wife had a spaghetti and I had a... More

If you want something tucked back in a piazza near the Pantheon this is your place. You can't go wrong here...although the peddlers selling chinese junk are around and you have to tell them to go away. You get the feeling that you are eating home-style italian food here.

We had a nice meal here. The pasta with pancetta was tasty! The tiramisu was ok. There is a lovely outdoor patio with great atmosphere.
