good value in locale slightly off the tourist trail in Rome

Although the service was a little hectic, we enjoyed this eatery in the center of Rome when we visited in a group of four. I can't speak to the prices this summer, but last year we got away with paying about 80 euros for a full meal, with two carafes of red wine, and even a grappa. Rare for our... read more

Popped in here for birthday feast and was not disappointed. Just the type of back street location and atmosphere that you would hope for in the eternal city. Lots of chatty, relaxed diners even at 11.00 pm! Our waiter seemed to be Chasing his tail a bit but was always polite and attentive and got here in the end. One... More

We enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. They have outdoor sitting. The staff is friendly. We ordered caprese salads which were delicious, and pasta in a cream sauce with zucchini flowers, which was also delicious.. Wine was good and reasonably priced. Great experience.

Very italian food with excellent taste. The portions were quite big and the price was for the high quality more than okay. Very friendly staff. Nice place to sit outside. You should try the bruscetta with tomatos as a starter: one portion is so big that it is a sufficient starter for two. We will definitly come back!

Great outdoor space with good food for the most part. Pasta is all good. Nice salads but veggies over cooked. The staff was not overly friendly but ok. However, at the end, the host stood by the table after saying service wax not included in the bill. Bad form in any country.

Osteria da Mario is a pleasant surprise after passing so many too large, too touristy restaurants in the main plazas. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is friendly. We recommend the carbonara and the meatballs.

We found this restaurant in a small piazza area near our hotel. The food was very good and reasonably priced. This is a family restaurant with a good mix of locals and tourists. We enjoyed the house wine and Italian dishes, and we recommend eating outdoors.

The Restaurant is located in a nice little "backyard" piazza which makes it at least a little off the tourist streams. The staff was friendly but extremely hectic. Food came just 5 minutes after the order but: 1 Starter came together with main course, the other starter in fact never arrived. Side dish came 10 minutes after main course. All... More

Really such a nice little place with excellent pizza, in the sun, great little starters and not pretentious. Not touristy at all.

We went here because it was listed in a popular guide book, but even they can make a mistake. This place was horrible. We were seated in the basement, next to the bathroom, which reeked. People kept coming down to use it, and the door kept opening and closing as the smell wafted in. I asked for sparkling water and... More
