The art of lievito madre pizza

I have been here twice, and both of them I have really enjoy this pizza! The dough is made with the lievito madre that make a great consistency of the pizza! The appetizers also are really good, you should absolutely try the "Tris" of rice balls made with three typical pasta topping: carbonara... read more

Thoroughly enjoyed the selection beer. A solid range of Italian craft beers and a good mixture of light and dark styles. My girlfriend and I had one of the best lagers I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The pizza selection was good, but the taste was even better. I had the calzone with prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella and a... More

My husband and I shared a calzone-style pizza (essentially it was a pizza folded in half) with pistachio pesto, buffalo mozzarella and an amazing prosciutto. It was the best pizza we had in Italy, and we were there for about a week. The waiter gave us great beer recommendations, much more flavorful than the pales that are everywhere. Yes, it... More

Stopped here after Ma Che one night with friends. Super cool place - we were able to grab seats at the bar which had an awesome selection of local beers and more. The bartender was friendly and accommodating even to us English speakers. Would recommend this as a great place to hang out with Friends in Trastevere without being surrounded... More

Large selection of Italian craft beers on tap. About 20% more expensive than the similarly equipped competitor in a more central part of town though. Fairly wide selection of pizzas and other food items. I didn’t care very much for the very hectic environment though and the confusing and unsmiling service left something to be desired. I guess the visit... More

The place is really great to taste different kind of beers and enjoy some delicious italian dishes. You should try the suppli and the chips seasoned with garlic and pepperoncino.

Cracking wee place which sums up the vibe in Trasteve. We did not have a booking but after a short 1/2 hour wait where we enjoyed a couple of dark ales, we were given a table and had the chicken wings which were very succelent, followed by pizzas. Great value and atmosphere

I've been here with my partner, my 2 kids my brother and a friend. I can honestly say that we had one of the best pizza ever. The combination of toppings is so good with typical Italian ingredients from all over Italy. The selection of beers is endless. Definitely recommend this place if out and about the centre of Rome.

Bir & Fud was on the list of Crafties to try...we were not disappointed. Easily located in our wee area of Trastavere, warm welcome, quickly seated and the menus to ponder. Their Pizza bases are the best I have ever tried....seriously, if you want great pizza it has to start with the base...and this place nailed it....sensational. Bir selection is... More

Judging from the facial expressions of the staff, craft beer is a very serious business. Bir & Fud isn't the place to stumble through your Italian, but it IS the place if you want to experience some high quality craft beers. I'd definitely make it a stop during any crawl of Trastevere for one (probably two) beers. These guys know... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
