Beer central

Did some research before went to Rome as we prefer beer and not lager. Good choice although most very strong! Nice edgy place.

Could not believe that I was going to able to get some different beers in Rome - and in a place like Bir & Fud. Fantastic choice of beers - I had two brews from Birra del Borgo the Hoppy Cat & the Cortigiana. Both were easily as good as anything I could get in the UK. My wife had... More

Next door to the apartment and quite busy so we gave it a try. Had burgers as we were a bit over pasta. The food to us was way too heavily salted, the chips were thick cut potato which I usually like but they were way overcooked and I couldn't eat them. One of the staff was ok but he... More

We went in this bar after recommendation of our italian host which other recommendations have been really good. The stuff is really friendly and Trastevere is definitly worth being visited. However, we have not been satisfied with the Pizza as it was more american and less italien style. The housewine was good. Nach Empfehlung unseres Vermieters haben wir dieses Lokal... More

The beer was perfect - cold and plentiful with beer-tenders that knew beer and could help the patron choose wisely. We visited about 10pm and the place was packed in and out, locals and travelers alike. We had a great time and two beers apiece. I chose a double IPA and loved it. Can't comment on the food, other than... More

We went here after seeing it recommended on several Roman nightlife blogs. It's in a great area called Trastevere which feels like a cross between Williamsburg (Brooklyn) and Greenwich Village. They have an amazing beer selection with some great small bites (we had the chips with vanilla ketchup and fish and chips).

Staff on cell phones so difficult to order. Some food not available in afternoon. Some staff helpful but others rude. Left without finishing our drinks.

I do really enjoy pizza and this is a plane to have a great pizza. They have different types, with a good dough and the artisian beers are deliciuos. Im sure I'll be back.

Staff looked busy but it was difficult to get their attention to get a beer. Good sampling of beers but Lille written or verbal explanation of their products.

Bir & Fud is down in the Trastevere neighborhood which is a great area for bars and restaurants and is much more residential. It's over the rive so it may be a bit out of the way from where you are, but if you're in the mood for a good beer, it's a must. Beer is definitely coming on strong... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
