Best of the best!

Italy is known for its gelato and there are shops on every street in Rome. Whether for takeout or to sit and linger, Giolitti has mastered the gelato experience. Rich, satisfying flavors. So you have Rome's oldest ice cream parlor, you know you got to hit this place. I had a fig gelato which by the way was nothing short of amazing. I don't think you can get this type of flavor in the states.

A complete zoo, you can't even see the flavours. Rushed and hectic, an unpleasant experience. Gelato no better than average.

Service was good as it was not crazy busy at 10pm. Gelato was icky sweet and icy. Tasted like artificial American ice cream rather than Italian gelato. We really wanted it to be good but now have found it is our definition of "bad" gelato in Rome.

This place is very close to the Pantheon and since it had been recommended by a friend in the food business, we made it a point to go. We went at night after dinner so there were no crowds. Service was fine. It's just gelato, so I was expecting five star treatment or anything. The gelato was good. I think... More

A bit more expensive compared to Frigidarium, but we received 3 flavours instead of 1- albeit the portion sizes were a bit smaller of each (so overall, about the same amount of gelato). Whipped cream was offered to go on top, but personally I am not a fan, so I opted out. Service was mediocre- we arrived at a busy... More

We visited here on our amazing trip to Rome as it was just right around the corner from our hotel.Giolitti has a wide range of ice-cream flavours and it is very hard to choose. I had a pear and banana ice-cream which was fabulous and they even gave us cream with our ice-cream ! I cannot wait to return!

It's not bad, but I'd suggest you try gelateria la Romana instead while in Rome. The service was poor and people were rushed along when being served

Ahhhhmazing! Best gelato I had while in Italy. There are tons of flavors - from creams to fruit flavors. Everything was good, but the Bailey's whisky Cream was my favorite.

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
