Oh the choices... more than one visit required

Fantastic flavours, a huge range of varieties too. Signs should display that you pay first then queue with your ticket. We were confused at first so had to watch what everyone else did. Very busy

We went over a recommendation and ice cream was yummy. But, I still think its too over hyped and could have been skipped. That's my personal choice, but otherwise it was too crowded. We went around noon and weather was too hot. There was no place to stand. So, might be interesting for some.

Went to Giolitti twice during my visit to Rome. First visit was late evening and pretty good although we felt somewhat rushed which I suppose is reasonable for a busy place. Second visit was very disappointing service wise. Both the cashier we buy from before ordering the flavours of gelato and the man serving us afterward were both seemingly in... More

Great gelato in a convenient location. If you're not in the area though, don't make a special trip for it, as there are many great gelato places throughout Rome and the lines can get extremely long if an entire tour group shows up! I got gelato at least daily during my two week trip - I'd probably say this was... More

Good gelato but not worth going out of your way to find. Attractive decor, a lot of flavours, and average gelato. You must buy a ticket at the register and then go to the counter to order.

This place was recommended by our hotel as being one of the best in Rome. We weren't disappointed. While it wasn't obvious at first, you pay up front and then wade into the mass of humanity that crowds around a curved display of more flavors than is possible to decide upon. Fortunately, the serving staff are numerous and they will... More

Giolitti offers a wide range of gelato flavours as well as a large array of pastries that look incredibly appetizing. The prices are a little bit steeper in comparison to other local gelatarias however the types of gelato and the originality of the flavours accounts for this more expensive snack. (The Bailey's cream, hazelnut and Nutella flavours are strongly recommended!)... More

I am reluctant to write a basically negative review of a place my wife and I have so often recommended to so many people, but... My wife and I arrived at 1:30 on a Wednesday. Unlike prior visits we decided to get table service and have a cappuccino and sandwich prior to the real reason for our visit: gelato, in... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
