Our experience was average. We ordered the house appetizer which contained a variety of items. Many of the items were fried, then refrigerated. We thought the appetizer was disgusting and did not finish it (fried food should be served hot). The waiter was a very energetic man that provided a good amount of entertainment in this very crowded restaurant. Their... more

Was told by hotel about this place instead of expensive Foder's picks. Great food and great service. The house wine was 8 Euros, and it was just as good as any 35 Euro bottle I had all trip. This was after I got done touring Tuscany. I ate here twice. Dont get lamb in Sept. Get the Carbonara more

Four of us dined here. Wonderful vegetable antipasti. And the rice and potato croquettes served gratis were excellent. My pasta was good, but my wife did not care for her lamb cacciatore. Very nice house wine. Front dining room was a bit crowded, but we were lucky to get in as we did not have reservations. Deservedly popular. more

As said before in other reviews we were seated with the other tourists which didn't bother us. The waiter was a little stressed out but still friendly. We had the mixed antipasti which we fully recommend! Outstanding dishes! The pasta and the meat could not top the antipasti but was still very good. Altogether we thought it was incredible value... more

After seeing the reviews on tripadvisor we had high expectations of Hostaria Romana, the food is okay but nothing special. We tried the spaghetti carbonara for starters and there was so much we couldn't finish it. The sauce was average, and seemed very salty. The secondi/meat course was better, but again there was a lot of it. The service was... more

There might not be any bad food in Rome, but there's a lot of overpriced, indifferent food near the tourist areas like the Spanish steps. Hostaria Romana is not in that category. it's only a few blocks from Trevi Fountain, but it was a great bargain for some of the best simple food (i.e., not Michelin starred) we ate in... more

Okay ... so there really isn't such a thing as bad food in Rome. Anywhere you go ... from the tourist restaurants that are on the side streets on the way to the Trevi Fountain, to the little sandwich shops, to the really expensive restaurants near the Spanish Steps, you are going to get food that tastes better than just... more

During our recent visit to Rome we made a reservation through our hotel to this Highly recommended Italian restaurant. Our experience was less than anticipated. Their serving space is very confined and the tables are very closely put together making thus impossible to have a private conversation, or host large party. The food was OK, not something WOW, but even... more

On our first night in Rome my husband and I had dinner at Hostoria Romana. Our dinner was delicious. We ordered the house antipasti for 2. There was so much food, it almost didn't fit on the table!! We would have been fine with one order but we didn't know. We had no problem eating it though because it was... more
