Food was hit or miss. Some plates great , but meat overcooked. Pasta excellent. Service was so, so. Location not great. A lot of tourists. Clearly has earned a good reputation.

After the near heart failure at the prices on the wine list, we relaxed with one of the cheapest wines, which was superb, and enjoyed a perfect meal. It can appear very formal, but it really was lovely. Great food and very good value. We spent €90 for an excellent meal for 3 with pasta, salad, wine and desserts.

Fantastic family run restaurant and a must visit for dinner. Make sure you have reservations as the place is packed every night. Traditional Roman fare fit for foodies. Reasonable price, about 70-80 euro for two without wine. Huge wine list but good ones at 25-30 euro. My wife was frantically writing down dishes and prep for reproduction at home. One... More

We had dinner at this small wonderful restaurant twice recently while in Rome. Recommended by our hotel, it was great. The only thing that took away from the first night was the appearance of Gov. Jerry Brown of California. He and his entourage was seated just feet from us. Forget politics, this was just about poor behavior. This guy is... More

After lots of pasta we just wanted fish. Came to the right place! Staff was great too. The waitress made the recommendation of one fish from the menu but a different preparation. Was glad for that advice and flexibility. Sea bass ceviche was super as a first.

We are staying in a vacation rental a few steps from here and it is a top recommendation on the restaurant list in our flat. We've eaten at several other restaurants in the area and they have all been really good but this is extra special. The service is very friendly and good and the food is excellent. I had... More

I visited the restaurant on my last evening in Rome as a special treat as I'm a big sea food fan. I had; half a dozen oysters ( which were some of, if not the best I have ever had ) tuna carpaccio ( simply superb ) spaghetti with razor clams ( again fantastic ) and to finish some tiramisu... More

We had wonderful seafood there for dinner - the food was great and there was a lot of it. The service was patient and generous. By sitting near the window we watched the moon rise and that completed a perfect evening.

My wife and I enjoyed a late lunch here, underneath the hugely impressive wooden tree, after a wonderful stroll through Trastevere. The dish I had, beef with eggplant, tomatoes, ricotta and basil was so tasty I took the recipe home and try my best to recreate it from time to time. Mine is good, theirs was better.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
