Not cheap. For two starters and two mains plus a bottle of wine and bottle of water €135. Starters cuttle fish tender and scallops 4 good size. Had a shared main of fish with razor shells etc in sea food broth. Food vas very nice and served well. Wine was nice but not as good as AK bar! Staff were... More

I didn't know this was a seafood restaurant until I came here to leave a review. I've been here about 3 times, and each time the food/service/ambiance were exceptional. The scallops with cuttlefish ink are probably the best scallops I've ever had. It's a place I'll definitely go back to the next time I'm in Rome. Make sure you call... More

La Gensola is located beautiful Trastevere and offers a true Rome-style dishes with amazing fish and seafood offering. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming and the service is friendly pleasant. I had the oyster and ceviche - perfect! everything was fresh and seasoned just right. The pastas were the best I had in Rome - both the shripms and baicon... More

After struggling to find a good local restaurant in Rome we came across La Gensola in Trastevere which fast became our favourite restaurant in Rome. Specializing in Sicilian food they served the freshest tastiest fish we had eaten anywhere on our trip to Italy. We ate there twice on our trip and tried many different dishes on the menu. Everything... More

Mainly a fish restaurant which lead us to book generally service ok. Half the dishes we we good the other half lacked flavour and finish. The fish was over cooked and dry not good for a fish restaurant. The green side salad, the lettuce was past its' sale by date, black round the edges and limp, when shown to the... More

Excellent food. Specializes in Sicilian and seafood. Definitely one visited by locals. We ate at 4 different restaurants in Rome but this was clearly our favorite. It is also in a nice location to walk around. We definitely revisit if we return to Rome.

Sicilian cuisine. The chef uses a lot of salt. The appetizer of fried black cabbage, diced potato, bits of bacon, with an egg broken on top, was tasty but salty. The complimentary serving of fried squares which the server described as chick-pea paste were good, but salty. Thankfully, there was no salt on the mixed salad. However, the dish of... More

Cozy small room with great decor, and excellent seafood. Great seared scallops, delicious al dente pasta with monkfish ragout, and an unoaked chardonay from alto adigio that was perfect. Unique, not your old school roman fare.

Gensola was recommended by a friend and what a great restaurant it is. When we told our concierge we were visiting he said it was his father's favourite restaurant in Rome. It is definitely frequented by Italians as well as tourists and it is in Trastavere which is a lovely area of the city full of bars, restaurants and shops... More

Compared to other places they are a bit stingy on their aperitivo but a la carte food was really food (try the spinach soufflé) and the atmosphere was great too. Very friendly service, quirky decor. Ended up there with a friend and we had a great time.
