Excellent International Cuisine with great Roman food!

In the center of Trastevere, when you would like to have a very nice more "sophisticated" dinner, this is the place to go. The food selection is quite original, but it maintains the basic Italian flavor that makes it one of of the favorite spots for visitors and locals. The service was cordial and... read more

Excellent food for a reasonable price. Within a 10 min walking distance of La Bocca de La Verità. Suggestion: pasta with seafood and eggplant.

Really sad. Good food. Good service. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Unfortunately they took advantage of tourists. My husband read over the bill, but missed the secondo that they overcharged for. I saved the bill as well as the charge receipt because I like to record what we ate in my journal. They replaced my 15 euro oxtail with... More

Around the corner toward the river on Piazza Piscinula in Trastevere near the Isola Tiberina. Decent food, nothing to write home about. The staff speaks good English, patrons while we were there appeared to be local. Salad was fresh and tasty but had too much oil on it for my taste. Swordfish slightly overcooked, but the tomato-olive-caper-oregano topping was delicious.... More

I can't recommend La Gensola highly enough. The service is fantastic, the ambience is casual and fun, and the food was absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend the sea bass ravioli and the barbecued squid, and the apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. The cod with tomatoes is simple and perfect. I honestly couldn't fault the meal, we had such... More

We came here with our 3 children (brought crayons and coloring book for our 5 year old) and had a great meal. I really enjoyed my oxtail. The house white wine was very good and a great price (we were overwhelmed by large wine menu!) Staff was friendly, and while I wouldn't say it's really a spot for families (we... More

This is a casual, charming little restaurant with many seafood options. The food ranged from very good to excellent. Upon sitting down, our waiter brought over a complimentary basket of chickpea fritters, which were delicious. We then enjoyed a meal of the fried artichoke, tuna meatballs with tomato sauce, spaghetti with clams, spaghetti with sea urchin, and the linguini with... More

The monk fish was amazing. The staff and service was excellent. Our favorite restaurant after being in Rome for 3 days. We also had the rolled grilled swordfish with egg plant that was delicious.

We eat so much and everything was good. We weren't even hungry and got dessert ( the apple crumble) and it was the best dessert I've ever had. I do not think they have red sauce which is my preference but they do fresh tomatoes. It was delightful

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
