Wonderful pasta

We had a wonderful dinner with the kids at this Osteria. The pasta with the eggplants and cheese was amazing ! The salt covered Sea Bass was also perfect.

We ate here on or first night of stay in Rome. The service was fantastic and food very fresh. Book ahead as it gets very busy, especially with locals which is always a good sign.

My family shared an excellent dinner here while visiting Rome last May. Every dish was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. Reservations were a must. We highly recommend!

Fresh local food, a awesome selection of wine. Perfect for business meeting as well loving affair. Fish dishes are fresh and never the same. If you don't know what u want ask Angelo an idea. Placed between Trastevere and Isola Tiberina perfect to make a beautiful walk after.

We had read the reviews and were not disappointed, indeed our expectations were exceeded in all respects. La Gensola specialises in wonderful imaginative seafood dishes all freshly prepared from top quality ingredients. Excellent wine list. We ate here twice, for lunch one day and dinner another - on each occasion having three courses - impossible to resist! Fine dining at... More

My husband and I tried this fantastic restaurant in 2014 and, when we decided to bring our son to Rome this year, knew we had to book to go back to La Gensola. It didn't disappoint again. Service was very good and the food brilliant. The menu is mainly fish. My son and I both had the seared cod with... More

Delicious meal and very nice service. Friendly and doesn't feel touristy. The pasta and the fish were both fantastic. We loved it.

Went for dinner on my last day in Rome!!! The place is really nice and cosy, excellent service. I had a Frutti di Mare Chopino for the very first time in my life and i don't think I'll had a better one ever! Large and great wine list, like a bible, we had a really good bottle for reasonable price!... More

We spent three days in Rome and had three different reservations made by our wonderful hotel, but after the first night at La Gensola, we canceled the second night and went back to La Gensola! We loved the delicious Sicilian house red wine with the best clams and spaghetti I have ever had. We are still dreaming of it. A... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
