After visiting the Catacombes, this was an ideal place to have lunch. Despite there being a large wedding party, we were made to feel welcome, and service was efficient. It was most enjoyable sitting under the vines, and the two children in our party enjoyed the food as much as the adults did.

Touring the eternal city can be hectic and tiring, so this tranquil terrace restaurant on the Appian Way overlooking the San Sebastian Catacomb entrance offered a welcome respite from the crowds and noise. Our group had lunch there in March, and the restaurant was pleasantly uncrowded. Their signature baked pasta dish was delicious, followed by a tender roast with potatoes.... More

This is the BEST place to stop and eat or get a drink on your Appia Antica adventure. It is set on a hill top along the Appian Way. Prices are very reasonable and their food is EXCELLENT!

Like many of the Roman restaurants, service is starting to be missing, probably due to the money crisis. You can't beat the al fresco dining, and the food is excellent. But the service is extremely slow for a Sunday, and if you should book, be sure there isn't a party going on with someone shouting through a microphone with loud,... More

Finding this restaurant is the main problem ! Ignore the street number. It is up an incline opposite the St Sebastiani church and catacombs, next to the place where the coaches park. Go up the hill until you find the restaurant. We came upon it on May 1st after several hours walking along the Via Appia. It overlooks the road... More

Great location near the Catacombs, and sitting outside near the fountain is lovely, but the food is only so-so and bears the dreaded mark of the microwave. Service is somewhat slow and indifferent, though if you're known to them, you will be treated much better. Dismal bathrooms and annoying 'parking' charge as you leave.

We had just been on the guided tour of the must-see Catacombs and decided to take the chance of lunch in this restaurant. They are obviously used to feeding large crowds, especially in the summer when I imagine there would be outside tables. The antipasti were all laid out in a buffet display and far too tempting to pass by,... More

We made the mistake of arriving at the catacombs at 12.30 not realizing they would be closed until 2pm. We decided to try and get some luch and we didn't really expect much as we thought we were in rhe middle of nowhere. Luckily I had the tripadvisor app on my phone and we found Cecilia Metella about 5-10min walk... More
