Good Italian cuisine in a hostile environment

If you are in need of authentic Italian food and don't care about anything else like customer service, dining atmosphere, long lead time for meals, etc., then this is the restaurant for you. I just returned from dinner at Le Mani, and our experience was so vivid and striking that I couldn't wait to... read more

So we stumbled into this place soon after discovering that you absolutely have the reserve tables ahead in Rome. This place was fully booked except the "smoking" lower floor, where nobody smoked. We had the linguine with lobster for two: very simple, very delicious. Strongly recommended!

We asked the owner of our B&B in Genoa for a recommendation for a fish restaurant. She spoke very highly of this place. It is small and has no pretensions about stylish decor but the food was very good. I had Linguini alla carbonara di mare as my primo; the serving was generous and the food was delicious, full of... We were recommended this restaurant from friends - it had to be our best meal while in Rome - service was great but make a reservation - it's only 40 seats

Read all the reviews before my wife and I strolled over for lunch. A true local Osteria! We arrived just prior to the doors opening. Although it filled up quickly, we did not have to wait for a table. Delicious and light, I would absolutely go back when in Rome.

This is a wonderful little place that has staff running across the street for supplies, waiters banging around and a virtually open kitchen. Check out the blackboard for specials: we went for the truffles. The place is rustic, genuine italian and is not touristy a fact I believe is due to their out of the way location. You must call... Very cozy place. Great food and the service was excellent. We did not book a table in advance but turned up at opening time, and it worked out well. Fantastic pasta and the wine was great as well. I really recommend this place.

Expect to wait for a table (even with a reservation). Expect to wait for service. Expect to wait for your food. But there is a reason why this place is full of locals... It's fantastic! The food is amazing. The servers are friendly and hilarious. And the overall atmosphere makes you feel like you are at someone's home. Even on... More

We were suggested this place from a friendly taxi driver and we did a good choice going there today for lunch. The food was excellent... Great food at very reasonable prices... If you are in Rome do not miss this restaurant.

Food is outstanding. The place is small and busy. Waiters are excellent. This is not a tourist spot and really is local. This is not for someone who is in a rush. The specials are the best. Make a reservation for sure. I also though for the quality of the food, the prices were very fair.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
