Authentic Italian food

There's a line at the door of this place every night for a reason... It's delicious and very authentic. They seem to cater to their locals, so even if you have a reservation, you might be seated after a local approaches. You'll never know for sure, but it's a hunch we got. This is the kind of place only local advice points you to. The kind of spot that in my own city I don't want tourists to know about. Roman to the bone, delicious food, apparently it excels in fish. I got told it excelled in fish so I ordered fish, the carbonara and amartriciana teasers we got to try and... More

We walked for over an hour from Spanish steps to this restaurant because our friend recommended this place. The artichoke salad was good. The pasta came after an hour after the waiter served all the customers who came after us. I ordered the typical roman pasta, pasta with cheese and pepper it was so so. My husband ordered the pasta... Excellent food until few years ago (especially the linguine all'astice), now the quality has decrease dramatically: the tastes are not as they were. Low fish quality and service

Happy to get a table at all. Pasta and fish very good but some meat a bit tough. Service ok but not so welcoming as could be - but apparently this is Roman charm.

If you are in need of authentic Italian food and don't care about anything else like customer service, dining atmosphere, long lead time for meals, etc., then this is the restaurant for you. I just returned from dinner at Le Mani, and our experience was so vivid and striking that I couldn't wait to get to the hotel to submit... More

So we stumbled into this place soon after discovering that you absolutely have the reserve tables ahead in Rome. This place was fully booked except the "smoking" lower floor, where nobody smoked. We had the linguine with lobster for two: very simple, very delicious. Strongly recommended!

We asked the owner of our B&B in Genoa for a recommendation for a fish restaurant. She spoke very highly of this place. It is small and has no pretensions about stylish decor but the food was very good. I had Linguini alla carbonara di mare as my primo; the serving was generous and the food was delicious, full of... We were recommended this restaurant from friends - it had to be our best meal while in Rome - service was great but make a reservation - it's only 40 seats

Read all the reviews before my wife and I strolled over for lunch. A true local Osteria! We arrived just prior to the doors opening. Although it filled up quickly, we did not have to wait for a table. Delicious and light, I would absolutely go back when in Rome.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
