Very good family run restaurant

A very very good restaurant. It's quite small so you better book a table in advance. All food is very fresh, saw with my own eyes their delivery. Pasta is really the best I have ever tried. You just want to lick your plate after the meal. They also had lots of different sea food dishes: starters... read more

We were seated in the basement and service was beyond bad. We made selections from the menu and our waiter told us to try the "fresh" menu. Some of the dished from that menu were not to our liking (very fishy sea bass). Some people left after sitting 40 minutes before even seeing a server. We had to ask for... More

As far as I'm concerned, Le Mani in Pasta is the best restaurant ever. The carbonara... The lobster linguine... The mussels, clams and shrimp app... Really, anything you order is going to be fantastic. They are known for their seafood and their authentic Roman pasta dishes (i.e. carbonara [egg, pancetta] or cacio e pepe [cheese, pepper]). Their wine list is... More

We visited based on a recommendation from my niece's foodie friend and we were not disappointed in the least. We got an early reservation, a must, and fine for us because we're Americans. The service was impeccable and, although we were sitting right next to a couple from Toronto, that was a bonus because we ended up enjoying dinner with... More

We arrived in the evening when they just opened, only option was to sit on lower ground room.Decoration was nothing special, but the food was really good and good price for its quality.Plus slow service as only one waitress served many tables-poor guy!

This place was recommended to us by two friends, and didn't disappoint. You definitely need to make a reservation as it's tiny, but wonderfully atmospheric. Away from the main tourist traps of Trastevere, this place had such a charming feel, helped by a complimentary glass of prosecco for all guests before ordering. We had the linguine with lobster as an... More

This cozy osteria lies outside of touristic paths, which makes it difficult to find randomly or without a recommendation. Nothing from the outside indicates, that its a culinary gem, a truly italian experience you are looking for. The place with a modest interior was full of locals: we were the only English speaking couple inside. The personnel seemed a bit... More

We stumbled on this restaurant while walking around the neighborhood and saw it was packed with locals and a long line of folks waiting for a spot. We thought, "it must be great if that many Italians are waiting for a seat." A few days later we came back and it was the best meal we had in Rome. Incredible!... More

We learned about this restaurant though a TripAdvisor search for best/value near by. We went directly and made a reservation for 19:30 same evening which where the earliest we could get, as the restaurant does not open before then. We where also informed, that the table was only available to 21:00. At 19:30 we went back to the restaurant to... More

There's a line at the door of this place every night for a reason... It's delicious and very authentic. They seem to cater to their locals, so even if you have a reservation, you might be seated after a local approaches. You'll never know for sure, but it's a hunch we got. Having lived in a couple of very tourist... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
