Good local restaurant in Rome

We could have good dinner in "pure" local restaurant though Rome has many Italian restaurant. That restaurant occupied by local peoples almost. And owners and staffs didn't make smile so, they explained what is delicious that night. Of course, those were delicious.

Cheap wine isn't everything, although this house white was quite good too. Our tour guide who knows the area recommended this restaurant to us a a good local eatery with traditional dishes. This busy restaurant provides lovely traditional Roman food with a nice local atmosphere. Although only a few tables outside, there is plenty of room inside. There was an... More

This place has an amazing menu of Roman favourite dishes, and we all found it absolutely delicious. This place will be a firm favourite for future. The pasta with artichokes was just delicious, really fantastic robust and aromatic bread, followed by veal medallions and a nice robust double espresso. They do have a lot of regulars, and they obviously treat... More

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Rome. We received a very warm welcome when we walked through the door, The carbonara is out of this world the amatricana is the best meal I ate during my stay here, and the tiramisu is to die for (so good my husband claims he has to have two!) This is a... More

Having walked past this restaurant and reading reviews we decided to go there to enjoy some nice family hospitality and lovely homecooked food. On arrival to Ai Villini we were not even greeted at the door... There was a waiter there but he just stood and ignored us as we walked right on past. Once inside we were shown to... More

My wife and I ate here our first night in Rome. I had the rigatoni carbonara which was very good but my wife's chicken was quite bland and tasteless. Service was decent and friendly enough, not great but far from horrible. I had better carbonara elsewhere, but not the worst place to eat if you're hungry and stumble across it.

During our trip to Italy, my husband and I tried to find local places to eat vs the tourist traps - both for the prices and to experience truly authentic italian cuisine. This trattoria was on the route to/from our hotel and the metro. It's always a good sign when the place is packed with locals, and we were not... More

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
