I have to say that my partner and I were quite excited about this restaurant. We had read such good things about it. Our reservation was for the last night of our 3 weeks vacation which included a cruise and a stay in Tuscany. While I would like to give it a 4 overall, I can only say that on... more

My husband and I dined at Asinocotto on our first night in Trastevere. It is located off the main area in Trastevere, but was just around the corner from our B and B, Arco deLauro. The cuisine was artfully prepared, non-traditonal italian. I say non-traditional because you will not find simple sauses and pastas, but a bouquet of flavors that... more

I had lunch in this jewel of a restaurant tucked away on a Trastevere side street. The prices are a bit higher than average for the area, but worth it for a special experience. My spinach pasta with tiny shrimp was obviously home made, with a deliciously subtle sauce. Service and atmosphere were lovely as well. They treated this solitary... more

The restaurant is cozy and romantic and the best value is the food. In the heart of trastevere we had a very special dinner inside. Grat food and great presentation. Creativity in order to give a "plus". we loved it and we'll back next time we are in rome for sure. The staff is nice and polite. Don't miss it... more

I just read some other reviews regarding Asinocotto on Valentine day and this is what really happens. First the facts: a) Yes the wait was longer than normal (if you have ever dined there, normally service is very fast, yet exquisite), but I had no problems at all (and all of the people around me ... by the way...), maybe... more

My memory of this restaurant will be that it is the 'worst service' I have ever received. I was there on valentine's night expecting something special from the '3rd best restaurant in Rome'. Thankfully everyone was in the same boat and it became fun because it was so awful! Picture the romantic scene, three inches from the next table... two... more

In a nutshell we waited 25 minutes for a glass of water and an excruciating 40 minutes before we could get our mitts on a glass of wine to drown out sorrow at spending Valentine's night at this disaster of a restaurant. At 10 to midnight we were among about eight couples still eating. Service was so appalling we just... more

Management response from
Asinocotto, Owner

I have explained in the reply to another review what happened that night and, again, I am sorry if we haven't met everybody's expectations. Here I would like to add that those indications of time to be waited by clients is grossly exaggerated. Proof is that we had people coming between 8:30 and 9:30 and everybody was served by 11:30....

We had dinner here on Feb 12. It is not hard to find if you have a map of Trastevere. I was extremely impressed. My wife and I shared a plate of zucchini blossoms with a feta filling that was outstanding. Our entrees were just as well prepared and enjoyed. Great place. Unlike a lot of options in Rome, it... more

Fortunately, we got a taxi here from our hotel and it was really tucked away in the Trastevere area. On arriving they had a sign outside that read 'Obama's Favourite's Place to eat in Rome"...... We booked the restaurant in advance, based on the reviews here and we weren't dissapointed. It is really cosy inside, not the largest place, with... more
