We literally stopped in Naples just to go to Di Matteo's. Following one of the most harrowing (but oddly exhilarating) cab rides ever, we were deposited on a street that was clearly decades past it's prime. To look at, Di Matteo's is not much. We left our name, waited for 15 minutes trying to avoid being run over by scooters... More

The usual wait time is 45 minutes. Go before 12.30 as neapolitans eat late.one of the oldest and best in Napoli, typical pizzeria without frills. Pizza fritta, frittura, margherita. Cheap

DiMatteo is the place to go when in the mood for pizza! The environment is a bit special and far from cosy or fancy or anything like that. There is lots and lots of people in the restaurant, the volume is quite loud and the tables, walls etc are indicative of a basic fast food place. However, there is a... More

This gem located on the main street of Naples, is perhaps not as famous as some of the others, but we were told on good authority, and discovered for ourselves that this joint does indeed serve the best pizza in town! The best pizza in Naples, the birthplace of this legendary dish, means it's probably the best pizza in the... More

Wow!! We looked Di Matteo up on here before heading there, what a good decision it was. It is a very basic restaurant (with a takeaway service) downstairs is a tiny room with about 4 or 5 small tables right next to the entrance, from some tables you can see the pizza being prepared and going in the wood oven.... While driving through Italy, my wife and found ourselves in Naples. Most of our dining experience had been relatively expensive (it's Europe). We were wanting to find a spot that locals recommend as well as internet reviews. We were told this place is a must. They were absolutely right! We each had a pizza and I had a beer that... More

This is the true king of pizza. The restaurant isn't anything posh, but the food is so good, it doesn't matter. Pick any pizza and it'll be great.

So far the best pizza in Naples at a excellent price! We arrived after normal lunch hour but we were welcomed inside.

Amazing Pizza both in taste and price. We were told about this place by a local woman. Service and decor minimal but experience felt authentic.

We enjoyed our pizzas so much we came again two nights later. The services wasn't the best, we were ignored for 20minutes while the locals were served, hence the 4 stars instead if 5. Be sure to try the deep fried pizzas, they are different.
