Friendly, good Napolitan food with a twist

This is the kind of place we all hope to "discover", but never do. Despite the owners having established this well hidden but delightfully friendly, accommodating little restaurant over four years ago, it is amazing how few locals have ever heard of it. Even our concierge had never yet been there. We recommended it to him and left a few... More

This restaurant provides an imaginative approach to some traditional Neapolitan dishes. Two of the dishes we tried were a stuffed calamari appetizer and a main course of lightly breaded fried anchovies. Both were delicately flavored and outstanding, as were our other entrees. The restaurant is bright, with a modern decor and is an excellent spot for an intimate dinner. It... More

We found Ecomesara in the old quarter of Naples close to the University. The surrounding area may be run down, strewn with rubbish and covered with graffiti but the restaurant itself is bright and modern. The waiters are friendly, and speak excellent English - which is very useful if, like us, you only have a very limited command of Italian.... More

A great surprise after you walk for 15 minutes on a side street; the place is packed with couples looking for a nice culinary exoerience so you better make a reservation before going there. The menu is short but solid and so is the wine list; expect more than 80Eu for a standard dinner, including a bottle of good wine,... More

We were surprised at the fairly reasonable prices for the quantity and quality of food. The stuffed octopus appetizer was very good and the eggplant flan was better than any other starter we could recall. The pasta dishes were also good especially the version with small, fresh mussels. The sea bream was excellent and the goose was amazing. We did... More

Ecomesara' was a real oasis for us during our multi-day visit to the central area of Naples. The food was inventive yet grounded in tradition. I appreciated the fact that the menu was in Italian, French and English, allowing me to observe the nuances in translations. The restaurant is clean and bright with simple, modern decor. Service was prompt and... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel, and we thought we might give it a try. We did not regret it. The menu is quite interesting, and it seems they like to experiment and put their own little twist on the dishes. I tried grilled fish covered in slices of almond, which was very tasty. The waiter seemed to have... More

We arrived a little late in the evening and coincided with a large table who were having some kind of celebration, and were seated upstairs. We shared an eggplant starter which was delicious, followed by the pasta with vongole and chickpeas for me, and pasta with a zucchini cream and local cheese for my friend, both of which were also... We had been looking for somewhere to have lunch on a quiet Sunday. After rejecting several restaurants for having boring menus we happened on Ecomesara. What an incredible treat it proved to be. We had pasta with clams and chickpea paste and one with zucchini and breadcrumbs. Both dishes were sublime and we hope to return for dinner. Also loved... More
