Stopped off here for an ice-cream after reading a review in the Rough Guide. We were not disappointed. A wonderful choice of ice-cream flavours, and at decent prices. I can highly recommend Mulberry and Yoghurt flavours! Lovely clean, bright cafe with friendly smiling staff who are very welcoming and speak some English.

On the main drag; friendly; dozens of different fun ice creams; perfect for a post-dinner ice cream on the way back to the hotel

We arrived in Sorrento after a full night and half day of travel. Famished, jet lagged and disoriented, my husband and I ventured into the city in search of food when we stumbled across this establishment. We weren't sure what to order as the menu is quite extensive, so we asked our server Giovanni, who I believe is the owner,... More

Bougainvillea is located on Corso Italia street opposite to the Sorrento church. Most of Sorrento itself is concentrated in the 5 minute walking distance of Piazza Tasso so accessibility is not much of a problem. Bougainvillea serves gelato, desserts, impressive selection of coffee as well as pizza and pasta. My wife and me had a coffee and gelato here first.... More

From the outside Bougainvillea seems appealing with it's large modern frontage however don't be fooled, if you want Gelato go anywhere but this place for Gelato. Yes there are lots of choices in flavour however the grim looking unfriendly staff behind the counter will put you off in an instant....run up the road and taste all you like at one... More

First visit was just for the gelato, very tasty but not the cheapest, but certainly one of the best. We had a couple of stops here, not overly impressed, the atmosphere was a bit cold, modern furniture etc left me thinking it was a bit sterile, very clean but a bit too chrome and plastic. Food was OK, I had... More

This was our 4th trip to Sorrento, and Bougainvillea has always been our favourite ice cream place in Italy, but we discovered Davide, and have been converted. Bougainvillea is still excellent if you're in the area, and we still love it, but Davide is just that little bit better. I'm judging based on lemon gelato, my favourite!

We sat outside watching the world go by whilst delving into the ice cream of choice. I had the Limoncello and my partner had the coconut.

This gelateria looks spectacular from the outside & doesn't fail to disappoint from the inside either. The selection of ice cream flavours is simply marvellous & they are delicious. HOWEVER, the staff are rude [even when you are polite] & I will not be returning. I do not appreciate 1. being totally ignored or 2. having my change thrown at... More
