First Night in Sorrento in 2012

We arrived for a late dinner on our first night in Sorrento. A very nice man dressed all in black with a large hat, looking much like Zorro, took us to our table. We ordered our food, Veal Marsala and Gnocchi Maranara, wine, Tiramisu, delicious! And, all while the man dressed in black serenaded... read more

This place attracted us based on reviews from TripAdvisor, so we wanted to check it out for ourselves. We were warming greeted upon our arrival, and seated indoors with air conditioning. A complimentary glass of prosecco and bruschetta were provided while we mulled over the menu. We opted for the vegetable soup and lasagna - both were excellent. After viewing... More

More than a week into our trip through Italy, we had become particularly disillusioned by the poor service that we were consistently receiving at restaurants. We were also fed up with the over-priced, mediocre restaurants in Sorrento. Not so at Tavernallegra! If you are looking for a super quiet, calm meal, then this is not the place for you -... More

We had dinner at Tavernallegro today and even if atmosphere was like tourist trap we expected to have good quality food as normal in this region. Was not bad but mozzarella was stiff, bread was dry and parmesan was bad quality. Anyhow we felt basic quality of preparation was good so many will be happy with the dinner.

Your first task is to find this restaurant which is hidden behind the main street in a small alley. It is air conditioned which was a blessing on a particularly hot evening. You are warmly greeted at the front door and once seated given a complimentary glass of prossecco and brushetta which were lovely. There is a good well priced... More

My friend and I happened along this wonderful restaurant during one of our strolls in Sorrento. We were greeted by Pepe and his fabulous staff. We were only stopping in for drinks and had planned to go back for dinner on another evening, but unfortunately we did not make it back. Now I have another reason to go back next... More

We went to this restaurant with my wife's parents, they'd been earlier in their trip and thoroughly enjoyed it so we went along not knowing anything about the place (I think they deliberately didn't tell us much!). We definitely wouldn't have chosen a restaurant with live music and singing chefs and waiters but it turned out to be a very... More

We went here for a friends welcome meal the evening before their wedding. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly even making little menus as a surprise for our friends. The food was delicious too. In fact it was so nice a few of us went back on the last night of our holiday xx

First - as other recommendations say, do note that it isn't on a main street but tucked away in a little alley - though not hard to find. We were heartily welcomed upon arrival at this restaurant. We were delighted with a free welcome drink of prosecco and bruschetta - which was delicious - upon arrival. The staff were very... More

you can't miss this place it's unbelievably good ! If you like entertainment you won't be disappointed! Pepe is an absolute gentleman in his late 70 s I think !!! One man and a guitar Pepe sings as well then all the staff join in including the chef ! The only restaurant in sorrento that doesn't hurry you along, can't... More
