My wife and I visited Sorrento in May and we had several meals at an excellent restaurant named Il Pozzo (The Well). We tried many of their pastas, risottos and pizzas and they were all wonderful. I had pasta with seafood more than once and it was excellent. I also had their risotto with mushrooms and it was delicious.Their house red wine is very good. It is fruity, easy to drink and very moderately priced. And for white wine, we chose Falanghina from the wine list. Falanghina is a local white wine that is fruity with a subtle crispness. Finally, I need to say a few words about the staff. They were always very helpful and made me feel completely comfortable. They were wonderful guys.Il Pozzo is located on via Tasso, down from the cathedral, at the intersection with via dell'Accademia.

We were pleased with our recent dinner while staying in Sorrento in October. There is a lovely outdoor area and a pleasant indoor eating area as well. My husband's veal scallopini was excellent, and my pistachio encrusted tuna with vanilla compote was also quite good. The waiter was pleasant, and we were able to eat comfortably without any rush. It... More

Just looking at price vs value this place is just sublime. The waiter was no nonsense, warm and friendly. No pressure, totally relaxed. Any pizza or tomato based sauced pasta had been excellent. The seem to try to cook the pasta softer for tourists so if you like al dente (harder pasta) do tell them. I also noticed any seafood... More

We first met this Restaurant in 1973, and keep going back, so it must be ok...Staying at the hotel nearbye in Oct with friends, we ran in here from a thunderstorm and stayed over 2 hrs.We chose melon and parma ham,and they gave us a selection of pasta dishes to try,I loved my rissotto di funghi ,frittura di calamari and... We walked by on a sunday during off season (November) and decided to enter for lunch because many local families were there. We were very happy with our decision. The service was friendly and very professional. We selected the antipasto misto for two as a starter. That was a big platter of many, many different dishes. After that today's special... More

Chose this place at random. Found it to have very good food at reasonable prices, with good service and a nice atmosphere. We noticed lots of locals picking up takeaway pizzas, so returned a couple of days later for pizza. We weren't disappointed.

Selecting a spot for dinner can be a daunting task in this town. There are many options. We chose il Pozzo at random and were pleasantly surprised. The caprese was the best I've had in Italy. We were eating light and just had a couple of pasta dishes. My con vongole was fine and GW had spaghetti with lemon butter... More

Located on the corer or one of the many side streets, we arrived without a booking and were taken to a table. This was outdoor, and so we were able to sample the local atmosphere. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. The food, however, was a little disappointing as the portions were small and it lacked flavour.... More

My husband and I ate here on our last night in Sorrento and were very disappointed. We got an appetizer (clams), the seafood risotto, the carbonara and wine. The appetizer was poor to OK, nothing special but not offensive. My seafood risotto was very disappointing. Not much seafood and the "risotto" was essentially rice, not the creamy consistency that you... More

With so many restaurants to choose from we took pot luck on Il Pozzo. Very good - Brochetta was excellent, veal superb and pasta fresh, simple and tasty. Not fancy but good for lunch or dinner.
