My wife, son and I visited Amalfi for a day trip our fourth day on vacation. We had learned from the previous days, not to select the first place you see, and to explore the area. Trattoria San Giuseppe is nestled inside Amalfi between its fine buildings and shops. We found plenty of places next to the streets, but they... More

We were looking for some simple but authentic Italian dishes. We'd had a terrific lunch elsewhere so an antipasto and a good pizza in what we'd read was a restaurant frequented by locals was what we'd hoped for. Sadly, it was not what we got: shabby surroundings, no local diners, canned antipasti and soggy-dough and tasteless pizzas is what we... More

Truly a family-run place, I came here twice. The veal in lemon sauce was delicious. Pizza is great too. The second time I ate here, my waiter and his friends (maybe family?) started a jam session, complete with accordion, tambourine, guitar, and this hilarious homemade instrument that made a sound like a tuba when you moved a wet sponge against... Went there on a quiet Sunday in October. A nice quiet spot away from the tourist throng. The food was good and the service very friendly and helpful. Prices were very reasonable.

This is the second time I have eaten at this restaurant and I was again impressed with the quality of the food and the ambiance. It is located in a little courtyard formed by the junction of two little lanes and the tables are arranged outside. The service is quick and efficient and prices are reasonable. You could be paying... More

Another recommendation from 'Rough Guide' that was worth seeking out. We sat outside in a tiny courtyard and enjoyed hearty pizzas at a very good price. There was a limited choice of desserts and they weren't much to write home about, but otherwise the place had an authentic feel, a friendly welcome, and represented very good value.

Had a cheeky apertif at a local bar and asked the gents where they would eat good Amalfi food. All of them pointed me to this little gem. Food was delicoius, unpretentious, very fresh and tasty. Marinated anchovies were fresh and delicious. Local fish, Pezzonga, cooked in its own juices with parsley, garlic and tomatoes was very delicatable. Food flowing... More

Pretty god food and value her under the statue of St Giuseppe! Anchovies were great, fish risotto was good, vongole was average. Charming service and worth a visit

Do not ask me how to get to this place. We stumbled across it, because my wife wanted wood oven cooked pizza. However, you should ask someone. Walking from the sea, it is on the left side, up some steps. It is worth the hunt. We sat outside on the street (no cars) and had a very enjoyable lunch. Like... More
