Quiet lunch in Pegerola

After a 13 km trek, we made our way to La Carcara because of Trip Advisor reviews. We went in to have a Pizza for lunch,,, something nice and simple.. We were welcomed and asked to choose a table and were given a menu. looking through the menu there were no Pizzas listed so we asked the waitress if we could just have a pizza. We were told that no we could not have a pizza so... More

Place is a little far from downtown, but they have a free shuttle to pick you up from the hotel. Food is impressive, so is the customer service. Individual pizza is gigantic and the best we ever had. We were very impressed with the food and the price is very inexpensive.

I cannot recommend La Carcara highly enough. The owner Lucia manages the restaurant while her husband Gino creates magic in the kitchen. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food is incomparable, whether you have pasta, fresh fish or meat. I personally recommend the Spaghetti with clams, orange rind and artichoke.....exquisite, as are all their pasta dishes. We are... More

Eaten here twice, once in the evening and once at lunchtime. Strongly recommended by the concierge at the Santa Caterina, which in itself is praise indeed. Its worth the journey to have fabulous home-cooked meals in a family run restaurant, especially if a car comes to pick you up; there are fabulous views across the valley to Ravello, but without... We had a great experience at the La Caracara cooking course. We also ate our four course lunch, made by chef Gino. We had watched and learned with the assistance of Lucia and Umberto as we had no Italian. However, it made no difference as cooking is the universal language. Great fun and great value, as the lunch, wine and... More

To begin this review, I need to tell you that we stumbled upon this cooking class suggestion as an alternative activity for a rainy day. We stayed at the Hotel Grand Excelsior in Pergola, Amalfi and noticed a small sign posted in the lobby offering a cooking class at a local restaurant. Due to the weather and location of the... More

We stayed at the Santa Caterina hotel and a concierge recommended this restaurant to us. It was an exciting 15 minute drive up the hill from the hotel. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by Lucia the owner and her handsome son. Lucia was wonderful. We explained to her that my mother was named Lucia which endeared us... More

We enjoyed everything about our lunch at La Carcara. We called ahead and they even stayed open for our late arrival at 3:30. It was well worth the bus ride from Ravello via Amalfi. Fresh fish of the day grilled with lemon was perfect, as were the spaghetti with sweet tomatoes and olives and the delicious salad with tomatoes and... More

We tried this place out of curiousity and were pleasantly surprised. The pizza's are very good, the place has a nice, local atmosphere to it and it's also better value than places in the center of Amalfi (that is, of course, because you have to drive half an hour all the way up the winding road).
