We stopped in Amalfi the other day while driving along the coast. In an effort to escape the hoards we wandered up to the Paper Museum and found this gem of a restaurant. Simple food but done really well with super friendly service. Probably the best meal we had on the coast, and also the best value. I highly recommend... More

About 15 minutes up the hill from the tourist area, it is well worth the walk. After all the hustle and bustle and tourist menus etc, this is a genuine, home cooked, Italian restaurant. Simple, very well cooked, delicious food. Great friendly service. Good value. And the walk will do you good.

A welcome change from the usual tourist traps. Food is good and simple and the staff cares that you are happy with your meal. Literally at a stone throw from Museo Della Carta, which is also simple and unpretentious but definitely worth a visit

If you don't care too much about eating in a nicely decorated restaurant with candles on the table this is the perfect place. The food was absolutely delicious. I especially recommend the pasta with clams, lemon and rucolla. We also had a lovely hors d'oeuvre as a starter.

We spotted this restaurant as it is near our apartment and so glad we did. The food is the best we tasted in Amalfi and the owners are very welcoming and friendly. The three of us ate a main course with wine and soft drinks for about 50 Euros. Try the grilled squid, it's amazing. We will be eating here... More

We come already for many years in Amalfi. Many good choices to eat, by the way. Last year we went for lunch and dinner and we liked it very much. This year we went ... and the food and quality was just amazing. We will be back in 2015

We and our 'Country Walks' group really loved Il Mulino. The food is consistently good and the service excellent. It does not have a fancy setting but, like other more modest establishments, it serves authentic delicious food. Since the restaurant is a good 10 minutes walk from the centre, it may be missed by people concentrating only on the more... More

This restaurant was recommended in "Lonely Planet". It is an easy walk up the only main road in Amalfi (i.e. you can't get lost finding the place). Nice to get away from the hordes of tourists. I had the sea bream (dorade) and my wife had pasta. Both meals were delicious. Informal atmosphere, no need to dress up. We spent... More

Up the hill towards the Paper Museum, and only a 10-15 minute walk from the touristy area near the church you will find this family-run gem. Vincenzo runs the tables, while his Mom cooks on the stove, and his uncle works the oven (pizza, etc). Take your time. The table is yours for the night. Slow down and enjoy some... More

Walk up to the paper mill museum right at the top of Ville delle Cartiere to get the background story on Amalfi, and you'll find yourself at this hidden gem of a restaurant. The guy who runs the kayaking business said it is where the locals eat- always a great recommendation. Front-of-house is eloquently handled, while beautiful genuine Italian and... More
