Despite having a large party to deal with, the attentiveness and service did not suffer. The food was so good. I still dream about it sometimes. I had the ravioli stuffed with pork sausage and graced with fava beans, with lamb chops serving as the main course. I was seated in one of the nooks on the side of the... More

Huge wine list of about 300 choices and a smaller but varied menu. Very nice rabbit and sea bass. Wine not quiet as advertised (2005 Chablis, not 2001). Modern theme in a cave: the mix of 70s decor a cave doesn't really work. No soap or hand towel in bathroom, but clean at least.

Best food we found in Matera. The lamb cheeks and Primitivo wine were delightful and the ambiance involved with eating in a cave was unique.

We were staying in Matera with another couple and we selected Baccanti for a special occasion dinner. Wow! The restaurant is set in a cave and is dreamy gorgeous. The service and food were outstanding. Our main courses included baby lamb chops, steak and pig cheeks (try them!) Desserts were artistic and fabulous. The wine list was excellent and included... Went with my family. Were 6 plus two young kids for lunch on a Saturday. Food was to die for and service impeccable. Highly recommended.

After writing several mediocre reviews lately I thought maybe it was me. Then I found this place. Wow. Excellent meal!! We started with the rabbit with roasted peppers and the codfish bites. Both delicious. The local Matera bread was one of the most delicious breads I have ever eaten, and we ate it soaked in local olive oil. Next course... More

We passed by this restaurant during the day and the aroma was wonderful. We went back that evening and had a terrific meal. There was only one other person in the restaurant. I can't understand that because it was much better than the place we ate in the next night which I see is rated higher on this site.

Nice cave restaurant with really good service. The waiter was extremely helpful with recommendations on food and wine. The menu choices were all very good. Service was fairly quick, food quality was good, and prices weren't too high for dinner.

My husband and I went to Baccanti for lunch and we loved it. Loved the athmosphere and the food was amazing. The owner Sergio was very welcoming and professional. Decor is absolutely the best. Better than the Sant'angelo restaurant and many others. Great value, prices are very fair. Grazie Sergio per un pranzo buonissimo anche se al volo. Torneremo presto... More
