Yummy dinner

Charming restaurant carved in the caves! Everything was delicious, to start from bread with olive oil! Baccala was fabulous too! Ottimo red wine and amazing cheesecake! As you have a lot in your plate, do not order too many dishes if you do want to savor the food! And take your time, service was a... read more

In a rock cave in the UNESCO city of Matera. To start; Podolico affumicato ai trucioli di castagno con noci, insalatina di campo e carcifini sott'olio di zia Giuseppina. Smoked Podolico beef served with walnuts, wild leaf salad, homemade mini artichokes in olive oil. Eu8 not very interesting. Main course Baccala olive nere di Ferrandina e scarola in cialda di... This restaurant was recommended both in the press and by our hotel. It didn't disappoint. The dining room is a stylish blend of cave and modernity with a dramatic lighting scheme. The overall effect is mellow and relaxed. The dishes we tried were excellent. Well flavoured, beautifully presented and authentically local. Admittedly, fish cannot be local but it's treatment relied... More

One of the two best restaurants of our stay in Italy! Ambiance very cozy and elegant. The owner offrered us an " assagio dei formaggi" , without charging us for it, absolutely unforggetable !!! I had the best fish i"ve ever had in my life and they had an excellent wine cellar! I think they should get a Michelin star!!

Thank you to all the warm, friendly staff at the Baccanti for their kind hospitality to my Sisters and I during our evening meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay in the Sassi district of Matera. Your home made Pasta was delicious and also your recommended local Vino Bianco. Matera absolutely deserves Capital of Culture 2019. There's a strong sense... More

Super fancy restaurant with delicious food but they understand they're located in a vacation spot so you don't have to dress fancy. Staff is attentive and very nice. ..and the food is to die for!!! Definitely worth it!

A quiet, calm setting with friendly and very knowledgeable staff complement the high quality of the food here. We ate here twice and every dish was wonderful, strong flavours with an exciting lightness of touch. Great wine too. Highly recommended.

A modern Restaurant set inside a "cave", much as the "sassi" of Matera. Food is a contemporary take on the traditional Puglia dishes, masterfully done. From antipasti through desserts, everything served was delicious. The great jazz soundtrack was an extra bonus. Highly recommended.

The best dining experience we had in in Matera. By far better than any other meal in Matera. Modern Italian food with local ingredients and innovative twist. Very pleasant atmosphere of a typical Matera cave. Very nice, helpful and professional staff. We regret we didn't dine there in New Year's Eve.
