Excellent food in cozy location

Warm welcome, excellent food, attentive and smiling service, fair wine list, bright and cozy location. Definetely to recommend for a fine dinner. Not expensive. Don't miss the pasta and the desserts.

Very nice, attentive service, good prices for both wine and food. English spoken. Nice decor in keeping with the cave experience.

A very nice restaurant but why oh why must they have such extremely bright and undimmable lighting..? To us it makes no sense to have a cave restaurant without soft lighting and candles on the tables. This partially spoiled what could and should be a very romantic restaurant. We began with the 5 portion anti-pasta (E16) which was very good... More

The side dishes were all disappointing, the fried potatoes came as crisps (admittedly freshly made) but still not what we expected and the sautéed vegetables were just wilted chicory. The grilled vegetables had more variety but were very thinly sliced and bland. Having said this the antipasti were lovely and the ravioli was delicious. The sliced beef was also exceptional.... We spent nice time in this restaurant. The food was great. When our youngest son got the pasta with tomatoes - instead of tomatoe souce, immediately the waiter came with the new plate.... Good list of wines. Great places to see very close.

We were referred to Ristorante Francesca by our hotel. The food was very good and the atmosphere was cool because the restaurant was in a cave. However, the service was poor. Since we were the tourists, we got tourist treatment and were constantly being ignored. We had to ask for every thing from bread, olive oil, sea salt, plates for... More

We tried four places in Matera, and we were always satisfied. This restaurant was definitely the best one: traditional dishes with a little touch of innovation.

The antipasti was great...the pasta was fantastic...the torte caprese was wonderful. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Wine was wonderful as well and the gentleman who brought it went through an aeration process that I had never seen in a restaurant. Overall, this was simply a first class dining experience. So, I picked some $$$ below...but that's misleading...yes...it's formal dining,... More

I enjoyed every single dish. The selettion of starters was simply incredibile (especially the aubergine parmigiana and the cheakpies soup). The ravioli were unmistakenly handmade. The pistacchio biscotti were crunchy And textured. The atmosphere and the decorations were simple And luxurious. The monacello wine juts nice.
