I thought Osteria Pico was the best...and they are great, however I think Da Francesca has won that prize. Cuisine was utter perfection. Great service too.

The restored cave venue is fascinating. The waiters were helpful and attentive. The antipasti were truly great.

We were exhausted after a long day of going up and down the stone step streets of Matera so we picked this restaurant because it was across the street from our accommodation - what a happy choice as we were thrilled to have one of our best meals in Italy. This place is first rate from the wine list, to... More

Very good meal - my husband and I both had fillet steak cooked rare and both steaks were cooked to perfection but we were then amazed by the size of the fruit salad that arrived; 10 euros for a serving to share piled high on a dinner plate, approx. 10-12 types of fruit, and plenty of it. At a time... More

We had the worst meal in a month of touring Italy at this place.I ordered pork.It was so tough and red raw I couldnt cut it with a knife. We ordered what we thought were chips (French fries) as a treat only to be given a bowl of crisps. When we complained we were told the meat was as it was... More

This is the restaurant we first visited when we arrived in Matera. It had very good, if not typical, fare. We enjoyed wonderful antipasti - we ordered five separate single servings of antipasti. I ordered a lamb mixed grill, while two of our number ordered pasta dishes. The last person ordered lamb chops and was not pleased. We had very... More

This was the best meal we had in Matera. It was also the least expensive. The portions were generous and the service was good. I had a plate of sliced beef with a side order of fried potatoes and my wife had homemade pasta and pesto with a side order of mixed salad.

This lovely cave style restaurant is very near to where we stayed, Corte San Pietro. We shared a delicious variety of house antipasti, all of which were interesting and very tasty and well presented. I had a nice local style pasta dish with zucchini and shrimp while my husband tried an entree of sliced steak which he really enjoyed. We... More

Just bumped into this restaurant while walking around the city. Decided to try it and we are very glad we did. The restaurant, as the whole city itself is beautiful, carved into the mountain, with a very pleasant decor. Fresh local produce at reasonable prices for the portions provided. We ended up stuffed. Very nice presentation on the dishes. The pasta... More

This was just okay. Not much choice in Matera so people end up here, however the service was pretty lax. Warning - on Monday's a lot of restaurants are shut here, and this is one of the few that seems to be open, so check before going to Matera.
