Dishes are lovingly prepared. Some ancient and modern Lucani Dishes Service is really ok, the owner speaks good english. Wine list is fine and not overpriced. All in all one of the most traditional and oldest of Materas Trattoria

Ostria in the historical center, very distinctive because it is located in the stones. offers a good welcome from the staff. The food is typically of Basilicata and Puglia. the prices are reasonable for the type of menu offered. shame about the slow service

This restaurant came recommended yet the experience left something to be desired. Our meal was somewhat average and the steaks not cooked anywhere near as ordered. Our waitperson was a lovely woman but her husband (i think it was her husband) pretty much ordered her around while he played 'friendly owner' to guests at the tables. We found it off-putting.... Was recommended to try it by local guide. We had a lovely meal. Make sure you get their appetizer sample platter. Lots of varied food on it to try. Great service...they found us a table even if we had omitted to make reservations.

When a restaurant is ranked 2 out of nearly 100 restaurants expectations are high. But for a number of reasons we left the place slightly disappointed: - our starter was a selection of 10 cheeses; unfortunately most of them were pretty much tasteless; - the pastas and - next course - the meat special were good, nothing 'haute cuisine' though;... A really nice meal in a cave! Great selection of specials. I had a pasta with a cheese sauce and pistachio. My husband had meat skewers stuffed with all sorts of different things. The food was lovely. The restaurant was very busy. A few things were missing on the service (e.g our order of wine was forgotten) but the food... More

Located about halfway between the cave museum and the main square, this little gem is great for lunch. The husband and wife who own it couldn't be nicer. We were on a tour and had to eat in an hour. They made sure we had the courses we wanted in the allotted time. The antipasti we selected was Del Caveoso... More

We were recommended to go this restaurant by a local. The restaurant was busy and because we didn't have a reservation, we were seated upstairs. Nice ambiance but we were a little disappointed with the experience. We were encouraged to select a special of the day and we did so. Nothing special.

We just had a fantastic dinner this evening that included a pasta dish that included white truffles - this dish was one of the specials this evening and was awesome! The prices are very fair and the service very good...I would not hesitate to recommend this "ristorante cucina tipica".

We were told about this place by Antonio, our guide for both an in-town sassi tour and a trek to the place the hermits hung out. He told us what to order and told the owner to be nice to us. And nice it was. For what looked to be a hole in the wall, we had outstanding antipasti and... More
