Wow! Mouthwatering, highly skilled, but unfussy excellence!

The food was served quickly by extremely friendly and professional staff who were very attentive without being 'in your face'and, although busy, we were never rushed but allowed to enjoy at our own pace. The food was of exceptional quality and was prepared and served to a very high standard. All this, combined with the pleasant atmosphere and surroundings, helped... More

An incredible valentines meal with a sea food hot / cold platter for two to start followed by the most amazing Chateaubriand cooked to perfection and a very good Malbec. I strongly recommend this restaurant and we will certainly be back, many thanks.

I recently visited the Red Lion on a Saturday evening for dinner. I had previously visited at lunch time and been generally impressed, particularly with the Chateaubriand of beef which all the adults had on that occasion. This time the service was efficient and very cheerful, there was a splendid fire burning and the restaurant was full. The first courses... More

A simple, friendly traditional pub (thatch, wood floor, open fire), with great food and drink. Menu's are simple but with interesting quirks. Only downside is, it's a quite expensive.

This is about our fifth visit to this great pub which produces exceptional food. The menu is always very interesting and tempting. The service is very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The atmosphere is wonderful. It never disappoints.

We ate two nights, while staying at Troutbeck. The first was the normal menu, the second it was a fish and seafood taster menu (shouldn't they have told us when we booked it was the only option that night and £65 a pop?) The first night I had a tasty clam pasta dish, followed by delicious pigs cheeks which came... More

Food was great, well served in a lovely atmosphere. Everyone was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Wine list is not to extensive but there is some good wines at reasonable prices. Deserves its Michelin Star. Stayed in the Troutbeck with rooms over looking the River Avon and are well furbished and add a really good addition to the place.

The RL is where I always choose to go for a special occasion, more enjoyable than any of the three star Michelin establishments I have eaten in (including in France) because the experience is not some sort of puffed-up ordeal, despite it providing some of the most outstandingly inventive and delicious cooking you could ever hope to encounter. Try the... More

This is a great restaurant and a country inn. I stayed here one night and two days after a one week trip around continental Europe and London. This was a great way to cap the trip! From the start, everyone at this family owned establishment was super smiley, welcoming and helpful as we planned our last two days. To start... More
