Having had a dreadful meal the night before in Salisbury and also having run the Sarsen Trail Half Marathon both my husband and I were in need of a good meal and pleasant atmosphere. This restraunt came to our rescue. We were shown to our table but ended up chatting to a local at the bar before sitting down to... More

Called in for Wedding anniversary dinner to be treated by friendly staff and an excellent menu and wine list. The chicken liver pate was super smooth and the main chicken dish was a good portion size with a tasty sauce. A great choice of wines by the glass and well served. The restaurant has just ordered in some Southcott English... More

Last thing you expect on a trip to the henge is a meal of this quality at a pub. Sure it has a michelin star but when you are starving and a jam sarnie will do and you find this beauty what a pleasure.......this was a sheer delight.

Hmmmmm, bit of a mixed bag this one. Stayed at the guest house and ate at the pub. Firstly, staff were lovely, excellent and friendly service. Big thumbs up to them.Surroundings beautiful, pub very quirky and olde worlde (not sure why other reviewers are complaining about plain wooden tables etc, it's a lovely set up). Unfortunately the food just didn't... More

. A charming country pub, just the sort of place that you would like to take foreign visitors, to show them Real England. The roof is currently, May 2015, being re-thatched, so that's another point of interest. The interior is charming, the loos good. Service excellent, as was most of the food. Now read on. We had the Prix Fixe... More

Me and my boyfriend took a long weekend out of London to explore some British country side and he booked us a lunch in this Michelin Star castro pub. I am not the biggest fan of pubs and we have tried many Michelin Star restaurants before but this is definitely an amazing pub to visit. Super friendly staff and service,... More

What a find! What looks like your average country pub is in fact a Michelin starred restaurant. Quaint, rural and just right for a good meal, the Red Lion serves good food, has great wine/beer and is in an idyllic location. We were celebrating my father in law's 60th, so stayed in Troutbeck, the pub's converted bungalow with amazing rooms... More

We were going to visit Stonehenge and I was searching for a place nearby to spend the night. Read good reviews of Red Lion Freehouse and booked a stay. Loved it so much we cancelled the next stop on our itinerary and added a night here. No exaggeration, it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Nothing outrageous... More

Our first time here for lunch for my sons 40th birthday. We all had three courses and I must say I have never tasted food like it.Absolutely delicious. Took the dog, (no problem) Its a great place for a special occasion and the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely go again.
