The Red Lion is always a great treat and our first choice for a fabulous Sunday lunch or an indulgent special occasion. Last weeks roast beef was absolutely worth not having a kitchen for 2 weeks! The food is creative and comforting at the same time with amazing bread, fabulous beef and delicious cheeses.....we love it!

Just had an excellent dinner at the Red Lion. Really impressive wine and liquor menu as well. Food well presented and tasted tip top. I'm not normally a dessert person but the lemon meringue was to die for. Only drop of a point was the service charge added; I think this should be up to the customer to decide. Food... More

This was the second time we'd stayed here and had dinner. It was just as good as the first time. It's nice to see it has retained it's character as a pub for locals as well as being a first-rate restaurant. We shared a delicious rib of beef, which was so large that unfortunately we weren't able to fit in... More

The only slight negative was the limited menu options for the second night but the food was superb and service spot on. Well worth a visit.

I have now eaten here twice, wonderful on both occasions, firstly its in a lovely quiet spot hidden from view with a pleasant garden for the warmer days. The character is smart old world pub, there is great atmosphere, a blend of diners and drinkers, something some pubs loose and become all restaurant. The menu is fresh and varied changing... More

We came here for my wife's Birthday lunch. We ate from the a la carte. This is haute cuisine - but without the silliness. Often I find the haute cuisine is a byword for tiny portions and massive prices. The Red Lion is not cheap - but you don't leave hungry. Both of us had a starter and main and... More

Excellent rooms with fantastic decking area and direct access to the river, very peaceful location and a few paces from the restaurant so easy to totter back for a good nights rest after a lovely dinner.

My husband took me to the Red Lion for a Valentine's Day surprise. We arrived there around 6, checked into the cutest little rooms which were sitting right on the river front, and enjoyed homemade biscuits and posh coffee until it was time to walk down to the pub for dinner. We took our very old geriatric Jack Russell who... More

My husband and I decided to try the Red Lion for a light lunch. There was only a choice of two sandwiches, cheese and pickle or ham and mustard. He had the cheese and I had the ham. Mine consisted of ham, very nice, lettuce and three slices of tomato in two slices of nice bread. No garnish, crisps, chips... More

Dearest Solucy, Thank you very much for your review in which you share the fact that you enjoyed everything whilst dining with us and that it was all "quite " to "very" nice. Had my birthday lunch there today. What a lovely pub. Great atmosphere, relaxed, dog friendly and you feel you could as easily go in there for a pint and sit by the log burner as you could to have a first class meal. We had the fixed price menu coming in at £30 head, 3 courses including drinks and a... More
