Dissapointed

I expected more of a restaurant that Hemmingway used years ago but times change and I suspect he would not recognise it now.I feel it would have been more intimate. This restaurant has a prime location, being one of the first you come to when you arrive at the beach. It has a lovely outdoor area as well as a vast interior, and it's on the pricier side of mid-range. We ordered a pescadito frito, which was a strange mix of fried whitebait (nice) and another fish that had very... More

La Pepica is an amazing place; how they manage to serve up to 500 people with paella at the same time is a mystery! The food is perhaps not the very best in Valencia but it's tasty and fresh and not overpriced. But go for the atmosphere. Lunches are packed (book if you can) and you'll be surrounded by Spanish... Loved it here. Packed full of locals, high levels of service and delicious Paella. All very authentic, don't expect your waiter to speak a word of English. We had the Arros Negre (seafood Paella with squid ink) which looks pretty awful but tastes out of this world. Well worth paying a little extra to come here, had a Pealla at... More

This is a great big bustling place by the beach. We had not booked for lunch having just arrived in Valencia but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. It is incredibly busy and the waiters run around the place !Good atmosphere and service from efficient and hard working staff. Food was great but obviously mostly... More

We had researched where to have a really good Paella from, whilst in the port area of Valencia and this one kept coming up as highly recommended. Well, it was shockingly bad. We chose the seafood option and there was only one shell on prawn that was full the rest were empty shells ( not in the paella anywhere) we... More

The retro celebrity tag attached to this restaurant and Hemmingways presence here nearly eight decades past, clearly pulls in the crowds with ques out the door of up to an hour! If you arrive 'early' enough for lunch (I.e. 13:00), you shouldn't have to line up which is a good thing as I was underwhelmed by the quality of the... More

reviews of this restaurant are varied and as a result I questioned whether we should try it or not but I'm so glad we did! we had a lovely window table (thanks to our hotel concierge I'm sure) and kept it simple: a bottle of chilled white wine and paella with seafood. it was tasty, perfectly seasoned and cooked (firm... Somebody had recommend us this restaurant to eat the best paella in Valencia. The paella was ok, but I was not very impressed neither; I'm pretty sure there are much better and cheaper alternatives. And the poor service had really impacted me. It took ages to be asked for our drinks and we even had to ask for a second... More

An excellent restaurant that trades off its Ernest Hemmingway connections. It specialises in Paella & rice dishes and also offers excellent seafood. The staff are very helpful & efficient. Its located near the port and faces the beach and promenade so therefore a ready made walk after lunch -- perfect!
