This is hands down the best place to get rice dishes in Valencia. The tapas are also brilliant (chipirones, pulpo). I recommend the paella negra! This places gets very busy, so it is best to make a reservation.

Large old original restaurant, uninviting open space. Food is average, I had better paella in other places even in Miami. I will never come back.......... never again.

We more or less liked this seaside restaurant. The wines were delicious and the paella adequate. We were a little disappointed in the paella as the taxi driver who recommended it said it was the best he had eaten, but we didn't quite agree. We won't be in the area again but if we were I doubt if we would... More

We went to La Pepica based on the hype and we paid for it. The restaurant is large and uninviting. The décor has likely not been updated since Hemmingway visited. The patio was full of geriatric cruisers who fit right in with the overall feel of the restaurant - aged. The service was friendly enough, we were able to choose... More

We came as part of a business trip, so we were a large group. They dealt with such a large group well, and the paella was very good. We had tables looking out to the beach, so the setting is also lovely - although I would definitely request the outdoor seating rather than inside as this isn't as nice in... More

I have had lunch with family during my stay in Valencia, we opted for la Pepica as a friends of mine had been here before and he was hapy, I had grilled fish and calamari whereas my kids opted for the always noce garlic shrimps, Iand my wife had two glasses of cold white wine which wasn't too bad but... My grandparents used to eat here as Valencianos and local residents. It has a wonderful historical reputation with Ernest Hemingway claimed to be one of its former clients. Is it still good and popular. Yes. Is it amazing and the best in Valencia. Sadly, no. I ate here with my parents yesterday and had, the natural choice, a paella. It... More

we visited La Pepica for the first time some eight years ago. Being a Hemingwaynian the visit was an experience both cultural and gastronomic. This time I went after having read the mixed reviews of fellow tripadvisorians and I vouch I tasted the food in an impartial way. It's delicious! The "pescaditos fritos" (small fried fish) were fresh, crispy and... More

Highly recommended to us by local people. Seaside restaurant along the seafront, though the sea is somewhat distant, next to many similar eateries. However this one on a weekday lunchtime was packed and mostly by local businessmen and ladies who lunch. Naturally we had the paella which was quite amazingly full of gutsy fish flavour. Desert not worth having but... More
