it did not look like much from the outside and the inside is ordinary. The owner is not ordinary and extremely friendly. The food was everything but ordinary. The presentation of the food was absolutely beautiful and all the courses was excellent. The desert had goats' cheese ice cream that sounds risky- but the tastes and textures of the desert... More

We went here for dinner, Refugio looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but has a lot more space than you'll think. The courses were top class (except for the dessert that partialy had goat cheese as an ingredient, which did not please my pallet), but the cheviche was the best I ever had anywhere in the... More

Hi, we passed by by chance and decided to try it, the owner and the people there are extremely friendly and the food is excellent. If you like tuna, try theirs - it is awesome. Otherwise they make excellent fish!

Super lucky to rent an apartment near this place! Creative, yet approachable food. Try the goat cheese stuffed with artichokes and figs, the tuna...most likely anything you order will be great. Service good, owner very friendly. One night there was a family celebration, yes this is not a tourist-only restaurant, locals come, too. Well worth a second, or third visit!

This is a place that is really worth visiting many times. The food is always superb and the staff very welcoming. Not that easy to find but worth the effort and close to many outdoor bars for a pre-meal drink. Love it.

Great food, good service - attentive but not over fussy. Clever, flavoursome dishes - we tried a sardine starter, and pork and salad main courses, all excellent - and good value. Best meal in Valencia in our week here. Atmospheric little restaurant, simple decor. I am headed back today for lunch - to try the cod or monkfish, which looked... More

What an experience! ...and that was only the Gin and Tonics!! The atmosphere was lively, warm and friendly. Our host was a one-off with a booming infectious laugh. He was engaging and informative (the history of the El Refugio area is worth asking about) and the food served was a visual and gastronomic treat. We are not big eaters and... More

This little restaurant in the old town of Valencia is a real gem! The staff is very nice. The menu is small and the dishes are delicious! Try the seafood salad which is served in cocos milk, delicious! And the best of all is the tuna steak with wasabi souce. The house wine was good as well. You are also... More

A very good restaurant with a limited, but creative menu. A welcomed break in the city of a thousand paellas (that all taste about the same). The service was charming but a bit slow, we waited about 15 minutes to get the menu when we first sat. The food is tasty, well presented but with a few rough edges, for... More
