I had booked a table for the 4 of us based on the Trip Advisor reviews. The restaurant had just opened so was not busy and the friendly waitress gave us a choice of tables. The room has a bohemian feel to it with slightly decadent paintings,We had some beers whilst choosing from the menu del dia option at 12€ for 3... There were some good recipe ideas however there were several details lacking,in order to make the food tasty We took the starter with the goat cheese which tasted not like goat cheese but very different. We didnt like it but at least it was possible to eat. Another starter which was actually very very good was the mix of cod,... More

Have been to this resto five times in past three weeks for both lunch and supper. Have totally enjoyed every meal. The food is always fresh and prepared with lots of different flavors. A unique approach and experience. The place is comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient. Highly recommended for good food, value, and an enjoyable experience.

My husband and I have been living in Valencia for 8 years, and when thinking where to celebrate my 40th birthday, it didn't take us long to decide. Refugio, of course! The restaurant that does not cease to pleasantly surprise you with its innovative cuisine and its interesting wine list, and where one is always made feel at home. As... More

Again in the "El Refugio" (The refuge, because there were a war refuge in front of it); first salad and then red tuna. The salad was so original not only in presentation but in flavour and color that you will be surprise, and they variate it every time I visit. The red tune is on of my favourites, with rice... More

The chef combines flavors that I would not have guessed to be tasty, but he shows they can be. As starter we had smoked cod, with potatoes, mango, balsamico and confit de tomates. An amazing dish, so well balanced. As main I had tuna, with an orange/soy sauce. The sauce was so delicous, a faint hint of orange combined with... More

The food quality at this place is out of this world. You'll not only get excellent food but also original creations that are exquisitely designed and executed. You can also trust the extremely nice and friendly host with a wine recommendation. We went as a group and had the best night in Valencia ever. Can't recommend it enough.

This restaurant might not be able to get a Michelin star because it is not "posh" enough but it's very cozy and the staff (the owner himself in the first place) are very nice and helpful (and speak English). But the food is what you will really want to come back for. I've been to great restaurants including a few... More

We stumbled on Refugio on our one and only night in Valencia and were so pleased that we did! This spot was a true gem and one of the highlight meals of our time in Spain, with unique and delicious dishes at mid-range prices, friendly service and an unpretentious room. We were so fortunate to have come across this restaurant... More
