A tapas bar with great atmosphere

Located near Murcia's Cathedral, Los Zagales is a cozy old tapas bar that offers good wine and reasonably priced food. The decor features photos and souvenirs from life in Murcia that give it a family feel.

We were looking for a tapas meal and found this place by accident. It looked busy so we went in and got the last table, always a good sign if busy mid week. The food and wine were very good and great value. The waitress was very helpful on ordering our food and we were not disappointed with anything we... More

Nice looking place, cosy, but as soon as the food arrived we wished we'd gone elsewhere. Having lived in Spain 9 years we weren't shocked by the level of quality, this seems to be the norm nowadays. We ordered artichokes - a special and in season - , they were from a can. Murcian salad , canned tomatoes. Mixed salad,... More

This is one of the places i keep on coming every time i am in the city center. Small place, not that many tables to sit but great bites (tapas). I never leave without eating gabardinas, empanadillas and any recommendation the waiter might give you. Dont pass by without getting in!!

This restaurant is just around the corner from the cathedral so great location. The atmosphere is excellent somewhere with a very Spanish feel . Opened in 1926 and still going not many places can say that. We went for the menu del dia. I had for starters croquettes one with creamed fish and the other with meat and sliced vegetables... More

We went to Los Zagales for lunch and had the menu del dia. Overall, there was nothing wrong with it, but it was not excellent or memorable. My main was chunks of fried fish with very salty sauce which could have been good with less salt. Starter was a seafood salad, again, bit on the salty side but fresh. The... More

Got a recomndation from a man just up the street, and was not disappointed. Excellent food, quick service and good atmosphere. We were nine people in our company, and eneded up stuffed for less than €70. Very good food, and value for money.

I have been twice to this restaurant. The first time was excellent, with fantastic Migas, arroz con conejo (rabbit and rice) and Murcian salad. The second time however was a disappointment, as I had fish which was really not very nice, and I left hungry. The desserts both times were a little bit of a let down but I think... More

This place belongs on your bucket list. If you want an authentic taste of the best of Murcian cuisine, with a heaping helping of Spanish charm then come here. Diner for two will set you back about €30, so it won't break the bank. Visiting in February shows the real popular spots and this was always buzzing. Come early and... More

We were in Murcia looking for lunch and avoided the several tourist cafeterias in the square next to the cathedral and only had to walk into a side street to find this traditionally authentic Spanish tapas bar (established 1926). The decor is rustic. There is a bar next to the entrance and tables further into the restaurant. We were given... More
