Exceptional Spanish cuisine served in an intimate and very homely environment. Family run with a great service and attention to detail. Highly recommended

We were fortunate to get a reservation for a late lunch. We were the only folks there and the two hosts were really friendly and sociable. Despite our best effort not to order too much food, the recommendations won us over. The appetizer cucumber soup was very refreshing, I can imagine eating this for summer too. The most memorable dishes... More

Go to this restaurant. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is wonderful, the sisters are fantastic, the wine is great. This is a small restaurant run by two sisters for 19 years. It is a true experience- truly personal dining. The food is impeccable and the service is lovely and attentive. From starters (including the house made pate that was... More

One of our best dining experiences EVER! Everything we ate was excellent and Isabel and Pilar were such wonderful and gracious hosts. We enjoyed eating their food and also the time we were able to spend with them. We were only a 10 minute walk up the pedestrianized street from Puerta del Sol so it's conveniently located if you're staying... More

What a great place. We had amazing food and the two sisters really made us feel welcome. A perfect introduction to the food, hospitality, and culture of Madrid.

Friends recommended this amazing find on Calle de la Union, 8 near Plaza Mayor. Four of us went for a superb anniversary dinner. Run by two charming sisters, Ahgarabia's menu is delicious, ranging from sweetbreads with fava beans and asparagus wrapped in pastry dough to Rioja specialties where the sisters are from. Make a reservation for 930pm and knock on... More

The two sisters know how to please hungry guests. Excellent food, variety and service. The salad with octopus was amazing and the "croquetas" - I tell you. Go there, it is a little hidden and opens only 9.30 pm. Call if you want to go earlier. This is food!

We came here to celebrate my 60th birthday having booked online in advance and really were keen to love it. Descriptions of the hosts were accurate and they were solicitous and helpful but the menu was difficult to fathom and the food was disappointing - very fatty and too salty for our taste although nothing one could say was particularly... I'm so sorry that my food did not meet your expectations, but , the chef, we do not like that our customers eat things if they do not like. Next time, say it and the cook will gladly prepare something else. Pilar (Chef) More

To be frank, I was a little hesitant when first entering the small restaurant up a short flight of stairs. The look of the restaurant is as if it has been set in a person's living room - I was also a little dismissive as to the amount of sweetbreads on the English menu. There was only one other couple...
