Business lunch can't!

Good honest food, prepared in a down- to-earth manner - i.e. Nothing pretentious at all about it. Small terrace and bar out round with a small dining room in the back. Went with a friend for dinner. Food and wine where good, but the check was a bit higher than expected and the waiter has a bit of an attitude because they wanted to close and there where only two table left... Which wasn't very cool. Will maybe comeback...

The food here was delicious. It is not cheap, but not as expensive as the decor and service might suggest. We paid $100 euros for a lunch for three, where two of us had wine (a very nice Rioja recommended by our server). We arrived late, around 3 pm, and the place was filled with Spanish businessmen. People seemed to... More

Stylish and frequented by many locals this small location is ideal for evening meals. We had the tapas offering which was excellent and good value. Good location convenient for the location and well worth looking out for.

The staff in the kitchen do a good job producing lovely food, but they are let down by the staff 'out front.' Firstly the welcome was underwhelming, which for a pricey half empty restaurant is bizarre. Secondly we were offered the English menus, but they were different with different dishes, one being more up to date than the other. How... More

One of my favorite place in Madrid for tapas. Excellent quality and great taste and presentation. Very good selection of wines and tapas with the best risotto with mushroom in town. I highly recommend the foie Pedro Ximenez. You'll not be disappointed. A bit expensive.

We ate at the bar and the waitress was nice enough to find the English speaking waiter to help us. He strongly recommended the truffle mushroom risotto and it was incredible. Foie gras was quite good too.

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Go there. (And order the beef marrow.) Sophisticated food.

A great classic restaurant, don't expect a fancy one. Actually the entrance is like a tavern, but the tables are well placed with great environment. The menu is simply delicious. I strog recommend the foi grass with Pedro Ximenes. I'll to come back because I didn't try the risotto, the house speciality, even though I was warned.

The tapas range from jamon, bacon/quail eggs to revuelto with smoked fish...all delicious. Everything on the menu can be shared. I highly recommend the chipirones and the risotto, but I have always enjoyed everything I have ordered in my many visits there. Usually, I stop in and sit in the bar area but I have also made reservations for the... More

Staying in Arguelles

Neighborhood Profile
Arguelles
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
