Nice lunch

I had my Palm Sunday lunch here, the food was good, as was the service. It's a rather conventional restaurant, somewhere to bring your parents for a nice dinner.

After rave reviews from others a group of us visited for the famous "suckling pork". It lived up to the reputation and was delicious (as were all the pork products). The wine was good too. A later visit with a different group yielded just as good paella.

I really enjoyed my evening at Los Galayos. The welcome was very friendly. The meal was delicious, particularly the veal. The house wine was good at a reasonable price. Terrific atmosphere - I would love to return.

Good quality food and service very well cooked Spanish food. We had a party of 10 on the top floor, it was private with attentive staff and the food was served hot and in good time. We had a selection of tapas followed by a leg of lamb that was delicious. Be warned, there are four levels so if stairs... More

6 of us ate here on a Sunday evening and had a fantastic meal. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The menu was available in English but the staff were very keen to describe each dish. Complimentary drinks at the end of our meal rounded off a great evening.

This restaurant has good food and the location is perfect if you are strolling in the centre of Madrid. However, the rush of the tourists in the Plaza mayor is slightly reflected in the behavior of the staff. Still O.K., and worth a visit.

When visiting Madrid, we wanted a local, authentic restaurant. Los Galayos is a great place to get some of that real spanish atmosphere. The language is limited to spanish, but we find that no issue. The food was very tasty, espacially the foie gras with Pedro Ximenez was a delight. I would suggest anyone who is looking for a nice... More

We ate here during a short break to Madrid. It was recommended by a tour guide who claimed it wad one of her favourite restaurants. We had vegetarian paella which was nice but not spectacular. However having declined both a starter and a desert, we found olives, bread, butter, a small dish of Russian salad with tuna, and chocolates with... More

Went here on a group dinner as part of a meeting. Service was surly, food disappointing, white wine being topped up from a single bottle for 70 people. Food not that great either. Warm chicken stock for starter, average paella and then some kind of fried custard. Very underwhelming.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
