This is a very traditional tapas bar serving traditional food and wine at inexpensive prices. The food is very tasty but beware! The portion sizes are huge. The 'starter' I had was more like a mixed grill for two.

You will have a good meal for a very good price. Portions are generous. Albeit, it is not food you would necessarily rave about. The mixed paella was tasty with a fairly good amount of seafood. But it is cooked in a large batch and is served to you quickly when you order. So it is missing some of the... More

We visited venta el buscon an early evening after walks in casa del campo and later the palace. Once seated we met a very nice waiter from Senegal which helped us a great deal! We wanted to order 5 plates and he insisted that we would not be able to eat all that, which was very accurate and what he... More

Great food, great staff and great value for money, a true Spanish experience. Had the meat platter with drinks for two and paid €32 euros all in a great atmosphere with friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Wiould definitely recommend to any one visiting central Madrid.

We came across this tapas restaurant on the final leg of our trip and it was a great place to relax and soak up the local flavor of Madrid. We liked it so much that we ended up coming out a second time on our final night in Spain, making it the only place we visited multiple times, excluding gelaterias... More

... I wanted to give it a try to this restaurant after reading so much about it. So just after worked, I came straight here to the restaurant to get my dinner . I strongly suggest to book well in advanced even though the orders go fast and there's a pretty fast reshuffle of tables . The venue is great.... More

There seems to be aChange of management. There's No atmosphere. No music, it's boring now. Unhappy waiters. Food mediocre. Won't be back. Sad as came here a lot.

Fantastic restaurant, awesome meat, good paella, some great wines and a sweet sweet sangria. Waiters are funny and kind. It's a must place and absolutely not turistic

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
