Venta El Buscon es muy bueno

We came across this tapas restaurant on the final leg of our trip and it was a great place to relax and soak up the local flavor of Madrid. ... I wanted to give it a try to this restaurant after reading so much about it. So just after worked, I came straight here to the restaurant to get my dinner . I strongly suggest to book well in advanced even though the orders go fast and there's a pretty fast reshuffle of tables . The venue is great.... More

Authentic spanish, chesp food, but enourmous portions that tasted aversge. A bit chewy grilled meat. Great service though, and cheap beer 😃

There seems to be aChange of management. There's No atmosphere. No music, it's boring now. Unhappy waiters. Food mediocre. Won't be back. Sad as came here a lot.

Fantastic restaurant, awesome meat, good paella, some great wines and a sweet sweet sangria. Waiters are funny and kind. It's a must place and absolutely not turistic

The place is acceptable. The service is good, most of them items were good but the combinations dishes.... You get what you pay for. Inexpensive items and low quality. This is one if those " be aware"

Central location Busy with locals. Old traditional premises with a traditional tapas menu. Reasonably priced Good Service Great food Portions were generous Specially recommend prawns in garlic & croquetas Limited choice of wine but really good tasting reds.

This was early dinner before we left Madrid, it wasn't a fantastic meal. We ordered the salad and paella for starter and the steak and patatas for main but we're so full after the starters that we struggled. The salad was huge and came with tuna and egg, the paella was tasty, albeit a bit salty. The steak was large,... More

Went in here for drinks and tapas, rather than the sit down food. We sat at the bar with friendly locals and a great barman. The wine was excellent, the pimentos de padron lovely, the tortilla espanol was awesome, the decor unique. Its decorated with artisan tiles and paintings of the poet Quevedo.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
