This restaurant is special from the moment you walk in the door. We were treated like family our first visit. The owners bring vegetables from family farms in Navarro each day and prepare them with such subtlety that they burst with the natural flavors. The fish was the best we have eaten anywhere - done to perfection with just the... More

Every trip to Madrid for us includes a dinner at La Manduca. The two owners run a tight ship and the food is incredible. The have a fixed menu with diverse and mouthwatering appetizers, and the fish and meat main courses never disappoint. Every night, depending on season and harvest, they have specials that are usually the stars of the... More

So glad we found this gem as it was hands down the best meal of our trip to Spain. Charming staff, very reasonable wine list and excellent food. The half portions are a great option and the baby lamb was truly memorable. Would happily have returned if we had more time on our trip! If you are into good food... More

Excellent first courses- what they done to the vegetables we ate was unbelievable. We took the half course following the hostess advice. The fish for main courses were good and very gentle. We took one dessert and share, could not finish it. Huge and delicious.wine in a very reasonable prices. We loved the food, the service and the atmosphere.

We decided to go to La Manduca de Azagra following a friend's suggestion for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was great; food , service, ambiance.... We tried Oxtail which was excellent. We also tried mushrooms as it was the right season. Also delicious. In summary great experience.

My wife and I had dinner last Saturday night at this extraordinary restaurant. This is by far one of the best dining experiences I've had in all of Spain. From the appetizers to the after dinner digestif, the entire meal was worthy of at least one if not two Michelin stars. But not only was this a fabulous meal, the... More

This place has been by far the best dining experience I can remember. We were roaming the area for a place to eat late one evening and we stumbled upon this restaurant. We didn't have a reservation and were a tad underdressed for such a posh atmosphere but the staff instantly put us at ease. The decor was simple and... More

What we found unique in this fine dining establishment was its simplicity while really pushing the quality of the ingredients that shows in the end result. Something simple as White Beans presented in thick sauce looked deceivingly simple but once you try it, all the taste buds wake up!! and you will appreciate all the hard work that went into... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
