For balmy Madrid evenings, the Casino offers an exceptional atmosphere surrounded by the most historical buildings on Calle Alcala.Since 1988, the rooftop restaurant, La Terraza del Casino, two Michelin Stars and three Repsol Suns, directed by Paco Roncero and advised by Ferran Adria, now rates among the most innovate players on Madrid gastronomic stage. Fine dining is one of the most surprising locations the Casino de Madrid has to offer.Discover Madrid skyline from amidst the historic buildings that surround the Casino: they provide the backdrop for your meal. Haute cuisine for clients in search of originality, creativity and the chance to enjoy a new culinary experience.Furthermore, in the refurbishment, Jaime Hayon has created a design conceived specifically to envelop dinners in the same groundbreaking, avant-garde feel that Paco Roncero achieves with the textures, colours and flavours of his dishes.

Sublime gastronomical experience

Managed to squeeze in a last minute booking for one. Tried the degustation menu - nothing bad, but there were some hits and misses. Some incredible de/reconstructions, some slightly over-seasoned, rich dishes. Engrossing, theatrical presentations. Service was excellent. Never intrusive, never left wanting either. Helpful explanations of all the courses.

Adria Ferran created this interesting and novel menu for the elegant turn-of-the-century casino (think Monte Carlo). The meal and the service were excellent and the lunch tasting menu was certainly affordable, considering the quality.

I ate here about a year ago for dinner and can still remember many of the courses. Yes it is pricey, though the service, ambiance and delicious food that is nothing short of art, is worth every penny. Our dinner experience was with the wine pairings and again nothing short of perfection.

My husband and I booked a dinner reservation at La Terrazzoadel Casino after much research and consideration. We have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, and after reading the reviews of this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. This was literally the worst meal we have ever had. Dinner was off to a promising... More

My last meal before I left madrid and what a nice way to end. Arrived at the casino and was escorted up the old traditional elevator (where you have to open your own door) to the 3rd floor. The restaurant looks totally different from the casino lobby, which was in deep reds and browns and looking old. The restaurant being... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
