I have been there several times and in my last visit to Madrid I ate there two times. It's not that is so amazing, but it's my aunts favorite, so we end up there. The food is good in general, although the plater of assorted fried fish wasn't that well fried. And order only 1/2 portion, since its... read more

Set in typical Andalusian decor, the restaurant offers excellent food and exceptional customer service. Entradas of mariscos fritos and jamon were superb and more than enough for a mean on their own. The substantial portions of hake, tuna, and turbot that we had were well prepared and presented. Two bottles of wine and lemon sorbet with Cava and we were... More

I have been going for many years to a different branch of Giralda and it was always excellent. It no longer exists so I booked into this nearby one. The choice and quality of food and wines was much worse than it used to be and below standard for the prices class. I know and love quite a few Spanish... More

Friendly, traditional, tapas bar and restaurant in the fashionable Salamanca. Great tapas lunch, good value for money, wide selection of Spanish wines by the glass. Very friendly service even though we're the only tourists. Try it!

Waited on to perfection. Excellent lunch lasting several hours. Wonderful food. Terrific ambiance. At one point in the meal I became cold and our waiter (son of the owners) brought me his mothers own sweater to wear. The owner later bought a round of after dinner liquor "for my eyes" he said for my party. Family affair. Excellent. Delicious. Beautiful.

Good food completely offset by terrible service. We were placed at a table in the back of the restaurant, tho we passed several empty tables for 2. There were 2 large groups (each 10+ people) and the wait staff focused all of their attention on them. I ordered the house salad & gezpacho. My partner ordered a fish dish. My... More

Our evening began with drinks in the bar, nice house Cava, served with Spanish green olives. We shared assorted Seafood items, we were accompanied by a friend who lives and Madrid so being familiar with the menu and restaurant he selected the best dishes. we had the tomato, tuna and onion salad, shark, squid, razor clams and another very small... Madrid – Dinner at La Giralda on Calle Claudio Coello – One of a small local chain renowned for seafood. Our first slightly upscale dinner, meaning we actually sat down in a lovely dining room, where I believe we were the only tourists among noisy family-filled tables. Very good gazpacho; tuna, tomato and onion salad; a fine paella; and tasty... More

Although the food was good the service for this non-spanish speaking customer was very third rate.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
