Steak!!!'

The El Buey is a wonderful meat experience. We were there und ate the pastel de Moriscos as start ( really very good) and the main was the house speciality "lombo de buoy" or steak to be finish grilled on your dish. El Buey is a great restaurant experience. The main dish is 1Kg meat which comes in strips that you cook on a hot plate in front of you. Highly recommend the restaurant if you are visiting Madrid the staff were really attentive and helpful throughout the evening. The only thing to note is the restaurant does not open until 9... More

Note: I went to a different location of the same restaurant at Marina Espanola, Madrid which is not listed separately on Trip Advisor. This is a small charming restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. The theme dish is the sliced beef served with chips. Don't be put off by the mention that it is 1Kg of meat, this is intended... This was recommended by a friend who previously lived in Madrid, otherwise we would never have found it. The meat was delicious, really delicious and it was fun to cook it yourself. We also had a salad and chips which were perfect additions. Our 15 year old, a fussy eater, loved it too. We had a bottle of red wine... More

We eat here whenever we are in Madrid, because it is just round the corner and it always delivers exactly what it says on the tin - thinly sliced steak that you cook at the table with frites. I made the mistake of adding in a house salad this year. Never again. It was a lump of lettuce with a... More

Not only do you get to eat some of the most tender and delicious ox meat that you'll ever find - you get to cook it to your liking on your own individual fired piece of pottery. Makes eating with friends a delightful experience. As first plate appetizers we chose the house salad which was accompanied with ranch dressing and... More

I've been to El Buey twice, two years apart. The experiences were identical, and without a doubt the ox loin is the best beef I've eaten in Europe. You pay by weight, which means the cost might be less than it says on the menu, but the deal is simple. Order 1kg of ox loin for two people. It is... More

this is a very well-run business with great attention to detail - staff attire + t/cloths/napkins + decor - radiating their shared admiration for the ox/cow. It is quite unique for all parties to have their own ceramic cooking plate, but it works. Good house red after more excellent chilled lager/beer ensured a pleasant Sunday; all at a cost that... Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
