Good but better in the plaza

Had steak which was cooked well and very enjoyable but service not great! Had better the previous night in the same Plaza! Menu in English which is a plus but probably won't return.

We went there as a group of 6. It is a very nice typical madrid outdoor seating in Santa Ana Plaza area. We were recommended by the owner of the hotel we were staying at. Some meat lovers and some vegetarians. Service was quick. Food was really nice and everybody loved it. Deserts were nice also.

We dined here twice, returning after a great experience. Order the gazpacho, asparagus, carne prepared on a stone at the table, calamari. The house red wine is perfect. This is a very successful restaurant, located on a popular and attractive plaza, so it is busy. Go a little early(by Spanish standard), around 8:30. You want be disappointed.

Waiters keep forgetting wine bottles accidently from the bill and in this restaurant you will learn definitely that customer is never right!

The service & food was very poor . We didn't even receive food we ordered & the waiter was not concerned or apologetic . We saw 2 other tables leaving before they ordered & wish we had done the same.Of all the places to eat in the Huertas area this is not one of them. You can get better food... More

A wonderful little restaurant in Plaza Santa Ana, near Sol. It came highly recommended by our hotel, the Artrip; and we had no regrets. It has a cosy trattoria feel to it and the waiters are friendly and enthusiastic. I don't always agree with Spanish cuisine but can fail nothing that we ordered and the carne de la Piedra (Meat... Typically Spanish with helpful English speaking member of staff. We were recommended the hake and we were not disappointed. Wine likewise was good. The problem here like most Spanish restaurants is that the service is just too rapid - the impression was feed em and get them out. Bums on seats!!

Overall I tend to be sceptic when it comes to restaurants in areas like Plaza Santa Ana, particularly frequented by larger tourist groups. Viña P is indeed a very noteworthy exception. The restaurant has a very pleasant, traditional ambiance. The quality of service is impeccable, and can only be classified as outstanding. The food selection is great, and the "Chuleta... More

Located in a very cozy place with many more restaurants and tapa bars around the plaza. The restaurant is old and old (tired) seems everything else from the waiters to the food. In addition, the challenge of wearing white jacket is that it is more noticeable when not clean. In any event back to the food. As a main course... More

We came here upon recommendation from the hotel we were staying at (owned by the same family), and were totally swept off our feet by the standard of the service we received as well as the quality of the food we were served! We had several dishes here since it was our last dinner in Madrid and for our Euro... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
