Fantastic for people travelling with gluten allergies/celiac! I stocked up the first day I was in Madrid with bread and cookies, which was perfect for breakfast and snacks for the following few days.

Wow........this place is a real treat. We didn't just sit here for hours because it was pouring with rain outside, there were just so many things we wanted to try out and taste. Everything looked so appealing and delicious and having not had tiramisu for many years - the chance to have a delicious tiramisu cake was just fantastic. Excellent... More

This cupcake shop was very quaint, but beautifully composed on the inside. There was a lack of selection, but the one cupcake we got-- a red velvet-- was delicious.

The red velvet cupcakes are so amazing that I can only compare them with the Magnolia ones in Dubai. I've only tried their cupcakes but I loved them all, no matter the flavour I had. A real heaven for people with the coeliac disease, like Nole, who passed by here when played the Madrid tennis open!

Their are advantages to living in a big city like Madrid. Places like Celicioso provides an example of one of them. A small town or city would probably not be able to support a business like this and I was sooo looking forward to eating here...and boy did it not disappoint. For someone suffering from a gluten intolerance the chance... More

It has been a lovely surprise to find a 100% gluten free place in Madrid, just by chance situated around the corner of my hotel at Gran Via. A cosy environment allows you to take a rest eating something nice being safe to don't get sick if you are celiac like me. Delicious homemade cakes. High recommended.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
