We fancied Italian food whilst on a city break in Madrid. We weren't disappointed. The waiter (from Sardinia) was really helpful although couldn't speak English he tried his hardest. The red wine he recommended was beautiful. The complementary pasta tapas followed by buffalo mozzarella and salad was tasty as were our main courses - vegetarian carbonara and spaghetti with meatballs.... More

I took the kids for an early dinner, as this was one of the few real (non-chain) restaurants open around 7pm - in fact it's open nonstop from lunch through end-of-night closing. The chef (who was also our waiter, as he was the only one working at that time) is from Sardegna and is a very nice, warm hospitable person.... More

After reading all the positive reviews and while being close, we decided to eat here. It was a thursday evening and it was not very busy. Its a very tiny restaurant, but it looks nice. The waiter was very nice and suggested some things; 2 plates with different kinds of pasta. Though it tasted well, i believe that it was... More

absolutely! From the outside, a typical hole in the wall pasta joint. Imagine my surprise! Best pasta I had eaten since Milan. Great friendly service (I speak no Spanish) took waiters advice on wine and had dishes of the day. Happy tummy & only 20€ incl tip? Recommend it to all.

We ended up to this restaurant after reading good and bad reviews and were warmly welcomed by the owners. The service and food are excellent, all freshly cooked and homemade Italian dishes. Thanks Sergio and Yuri, we hardly recommend your restaurant and will definitely come back. Ps: Gavino is also the name of their loved dachshund 

Went here early at around 7pm and was greeted by the very friendly owner. We had a drink which came with a free tapas. Had main (mostly pasta and lasagna on the menu) and dessert. With the dessert came a small alcoholic drink too. We paid +/- 30 euros in total. Yes the food is reheated in a microwave and... More

By luck I was lost and hungry walking in Madrid with my family and found this place which offered me a "vegetarian option" because traditional Spanish meals are full of meat. WOW! best Italian I ever had, plus the personalized attention by the owner itself made it even more special. Deserts are to die for.

We went here after reading peoples reviews and having such good ratings, but wish we hadnt. We visited at 7pm and it was empty, another sign not to go in but we did. The restaurant is small and clean but you go for the food. The starters are 10 euros each and for the main courses there is only pasta.... More

We stumbled on this place in the pouring rain right at the end of our stay. The food is fantastic and although we spent a long time working out the menu it was worth it. Sergio doesn't speak much English so bear with him (translator app great for working out the hard bits of the menu). The service was exceptional,... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
