Nice tavern located on the most central and commercial zone of Madrid (walking distance to la Puerta del Sol and Plaza de Santa Ana). Ideal to make a stop along the way to taste its tapas or to have dinner sitting at one of its small rooms. Very varied menu of Spanish portions and bite-sized appetizers. Kind employees. Kitchen open to the public for directly dealing with the chef. Sangría. Cocktails.

Great Tapas

My daughter has lived in Madrid for several months so knows the best places to eat and this is one of them! It was packed out but we were found a table and served p err promptly. Great choice of delicious Tapas, well presented and reasonable prices. Would definitely return here.

We found this restaurant through TA and we're glad we did. It serves a more modern take on tapas, with each dish served in a shallow glass cup. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was perfect. It's good value too. We had the special for 15 euros per person, which included a bottle of wine and more than... More

This restaurant is located in the center of Madrid. It has great tapas with a modern flair. Some of the tapas we had, all of which were fantastic, were patridge pate, fried chickpeas with some Japanese seaweed, panko covered shrimp on a stick, spicy chicken skewers and tuna tartare. Can't go wrong here.

After a very poor walk in tapa tapa bar we did some research on trip advisor . We're we glad. The food is fantastic. Has 6 tapas plates and a bottle of very nice wine and large water. 29 € for the bill.. Amazed for this quality food and wine. A must visit

So glad we accidently found this place, the food and service is great! We ate here two nights a row, and were really satisfied with everything! First night we got salted (and roasted?) almonds together with our drinks, absolutely recommendable!

Exquisite tapas of various type (fish/meat) a good draught beer (as never tasted better during my holiday) and a nice atmosphere. I do recommend a stop in there before dining or nightclubbing.

This was probably our best meal in Madrid. Two friends and I went to Taberna del Chato at around 10:30pm on a Saturday. We only had to wait a few minutes for our table and we ordered a pitcher of sangria while we waited. Everything we ate was amazing. I especially liked the crispy chicken, teriyaki sirloin, and vegetable sticks... More

The waiter was very helpful, and their dishes were all delicious. Their kid's meal, especially the friend chicken pieces, was quite good. It was a pleasant, fun little spot.

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
