Nextdoor: you've got to try it!

The short version, before I start rambling, is that I cannot believe that this restaurant ranks so low in the list of places to try out in Madrid. The short version, before I start rambling, is that I cannot believe that this restaurant ranks so low in the list of places to try out in Madrid. Reasonable place with reasonable prices but delicious food in a beautiful area. Few tables and prompt service, nothing fancy but you would like that place.

Tucked away in a non-descript street (we nearly walked right past it), with very little fanfare announcing it, it is hard to believe the quality of this restaurant's food. It had been recommended by my Madrid host, and we had read a few very favourable reviews, but the sheer freshness, quality and imagination of the food was exceptional and one... More

I came across the Asiana Nextdoor thanks to my boyfriends' parents taking us there for lunch one Sunday. The menu was overwhelming, in the best way possible. Everything sounded amazing so we ordered a large selection of things to share. I've had very few meals where I liked every single bite, but this was one of them (which was especially... More

I loved the new dish "Pez Mantequilla con reducion de Kalamata": so delicate and tasty at the same time. The mussels and the Zamburignas are a must, just like the Balinese Satay.

Wonderful experience of Japanese/Peruvian taste, great service as the staff were very attentive. Cosy and romantic very nice for a first date. They have a fantastic tasting menu, with light food but do not be fooled by the the size of the food because they will by 100% fill you up. Each dish that came was a real pleasure for... More

We had located Asiana Nextdoor by means of TA as we were walking down from Sorolla Museum, with a brief stop for appetizers at Plaza Santa Bárbara. The only downside I could find with Asiana was that they open at 2 pm so we had to wait a bit until we could come in. Once in the restaurant we had... More

Asiana's staff could not have been more attentive and helpful to all of our complex dietary needs (multiple allergies). They have a great tasting menu of delectable nibbles of many sorts. We loved especially the scallops on 1/2 lime. It is quite unbelieveable how one can become quite stuffed on yummy tasting menu tidbits as we did here. Every bite... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
