Awesome and different tapas. The people is so nice and the place is beautiful. You can try different things, not just the typical "bravas" and "croquetas" You cannot miss it!

The Mercado di San Miguel is a tapas madhouse; across the street this restaurant is an oasis of calm. We liked it enough to return a couple weeks later for our final dinner in Spain. The staff was friendly and helpful. As we found in most of Spain, the selection of low price wines was excellent;; the waitress helped us... More

Honest and tasty cuisine! We discovered La Pizarra while at Mercado de San Miguel (great tapas and wines but pretty bussy). We were looking for a quieter place and the reviews for La Pizarra looked promising. And were they right! Our dinner was great, it was a tuesday night so the place was pretty quiet, we enjoyed a charming ambience.... More

My husband and I came here after walking through plaza mayor on our last night of a ten day spain trip filled with amazing foods. We were in a great mood prior and were looking forward to the dinner since it was highly recommended by some users. I got the beef stroganoff (tasted like glue and needed much salt, came... More

After reading the reviews we decided to go to this restaurant for dinner, but when we got there the place was empty! Not sure if we went too early! As it was our first day in Madrid, so we decided to eat at Mercado San Miguel. We came back to the restaurant in our last day in Madrida for lunch!... More

Visiting Madrid for a day - and I was so lucky to find this gem! The food was sensational! Menu Del Dia (available till 4pm) which cost us 15 euros which is slightly more expensive than in most touristic places in Madrid but it is worth every cenny of it! Would recommend to everyone!

We were looking for a nice place for lunch on Tripadvisor sitting on a back bench in Almudena cathedral. It's not to say we are naughty but to give you a sense of direction/location. The place is near Mercado San Miguel which was very tempting but we didn't succumb to it! La Pizarra offers late lunch (up until 4 pm)... More

This is a great restaurant for Tapas with an incredibly friendly staff and chef! Just down the road from the market, this is a must eat restaurant while in Madrid

Our waitress was wonderful: we practiced our Spanish and she practiced her English. Braised veal cheek was awesome, as was the special Spanish digestivo she brought for us at the end of the meal, on the house. Don't know what was in it, but is was good. It is located just a stone's throw from the Mercado San Miguel which... More

Having shied away from the tourist traps in the Plaza Mayor, and chickened out of joining the hard-core foodies in Mercado de San Miguel (and wanting somewhere we could sit down properly), we found this place just round the corner - so quiet it could have been a hundred miles away. We had the 'menu of the day' special -... More
